I didn't try this but it should work.

1. Open ISO with an hex editor (WinHex).
2. Go to the offset 0x40003 and change the byte from "03" to "02".
3. Save and now you should be able to open the ISO with Trucha.
4. To restore the third partition. just revert step 2.
I can confirm that this allows trucha to open the file

"12:46:46: Ready. Found 12618 differences..."
It's the first time I create a ppf, I hope I will manage =)

The pff is already created, but now I test if after using the ppf, there is no differences with my Mkwii iso without drive check and the original iso patched with the ppf.
8 minute remaining for the resultat

I dont think this game has 001 error.I think everyonw is just assuming it does.
I used generic wii patcher and couldnt find any so I just burned it and it worked for me.(SMG doesnt work)

There is a drive check. I tried a normal burnt disc and my Wiinja V1 wouldn't get past the 001 Error.

=> 0 Difference !

so the pff seems to work.
Download ppf-o-matic
and
Mkwii.pff

In ppf-o-matic, Iso file: choose your Mario Kart iso
Patch: choose mkwii.ppf
And Apply !
Then you can burn the iso =)

(keep a copy of the originial Mkwii.iso)

I'm burning the patched iso with the pff, and I will confirm if it works or it doesn't

yep i concur with shaunj66 deffo got a drive check any news on that ppf patch i managed to trucha previous drive checks out of SMG but dont really know how to hexedit!!
So would rather apply a simple patch

Ok just grabbed the patch and applied burning now will let u know if it works thanks for ur work jinva much appreciated:)

I confirm Wii00007's method works. The game run without #001 Error. But The #001 Error comes back when I try to install Mario Kart Channel...

Anyway, the unpatched MKW iso can be open with WiiBrowse.

The main.dol of the third partition probably needs to be patched with GWP (Byte pattern found at 0x068BA3)
