have had mine for abuot a week now.. playing with it for a couple hours a day .. so far so good. mines 3rd batch from kickgaming.

Got 2 from the third batch.

1 works perfect (2 weeks so far)
1 DoA

Bought them separately, the good one has the batch 2 white label, while the faulty one has the batch 3 green label.

I've had one for about two weeks now and it's working perfectly, is it safe to say I'm in the clear? (Not that I'm 100% sure that it'll work forever, but in the clear as far as current reliability issues go?)

Wow, judging by posts alone, the DOA issue seems way more than 5%. More like ten fold that. Like 50%!!!!

If you read this thread from page one to this post, almost every other person that posts about owning a new cyclo says they have gotten a DOA one or something like it. Team Cyclops better get serious.

Just remember people will generally only say something if their Cyclo is faulty. If it works, they'll be to busy playing it to bother posting here, so this isn't really a very good result set.

I know but you would think if GBATemp users bought 3rd batch cyclos they would at least come to the forums once and awhile to talk but ya I guess you are right.

When's the 4th batch coming? I will definitely not risk getting a 3rd batch card but I have been eying the cyclo for some time now. Going for acekard or cyclo. Seeing the cyclo like this makes me jump to acekard but unless 4th batch is very soon and the DOA will be fixed.

really dissapointed with the cyclo hardware. after waiting for so long i've decided to switch back to an R4. hope their next batch improves.

btw, thanks ozmodchips. you guys rock!

fyi - I got a 3rd batch chip this week. This ones going to my brother so before sending it off I wanted to be -sure- it won't die in the first week of use by my niece. I loaded it up with games and mp3 - popped the microSD in and out a few times, popped it in and out of the DS, then start/stopped the DS, booted to moonshell and left it playing mp3 for hours, played various games and left them on all night... then started all over the next day. I switched it into my sons DS (he uses a batch 2) so he's also been playing on it for several hours. I've fiddled around with the cart in my hand, pushing on sides, back, front, etc to be sure nothing a young kid might do will brake it on next use. In general I abused it as much as I could over the last few days and it's still working.

And to note I have a 1st and 2nd batch Cyclo DS (both abused by my kids) and no issues.

Well there is one happy buyer ^

Now if more people didn't have as many problem.

I think if TC can just clean up their act in batch 4 then people will be happy again.

I got three cyclods and the two I got on 11/28 are still working without any problems and the replacement i just got 12/6 been working great. I haven't had any problem with any of them, swapping games and skins again and again and playing with them atleast 5hrs a day.

well, I received my batch 3 Evo, green label, + blue uSD reader.

It was dead as a doornail straight out of the tin. They'd've been much better off spending the $$$ on some QA.

Electrically it's ok as the shim trick worked for me to upgrade firmware and fix up my 3in1 for GnM use again.

Haven't bothered TC with more bad news yet, as there's little point mailing it off this time of year, as even normally it's taken people months to get replacements.

Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed off with TC.

There^ I see, I knew the flow of good news wouldn't last long.

Anyway, I say you are right, for now use the paper trick or some other trick to get it working for awhile until the holiday season leaves then send it in. Or you can send it in immediately and hope for a batch 4 replacement 4 days from now IIRC.

the most common problem with 3rd batch evos can be fixed like this(the's what i did ith mine.
Hooray! For needing to open up and mod a product you bought to make it work!

Usually, just paying money for the device is enough to expect it to work but I guess that's not the case here. Team Cyclops, are you reading this? Batch 4 better have less than .9% defects. If all the other carts can do it why can't you?
