When I first entered the dsi scene, I was surprised that the only tools available to dump the saves from your original games were only available for the ds (via the slow internet connection) or 3ds. So I'm proud to announce that this is the first save dumper/injector for the dsi:

Version 1.2 changelog:
  • Fixed some tyos in the prompts
  • Added support for fake cards, now it should be able to dump saves from bootleg games too

Version 1.1 changelog:
  • Added touch keyboard support, to allow you to save the file with the name you want
  • Added a file browser when loading the save to restore
  • Added additional check for the size of the loaded file
To use the keyboard, you have to launch the app from dsimenu++
  • Easily usable, with simple menus, allows saving the save as "gameid.sav" or "save.sav".
  • Suports card swapping, dump your entire collection without even resetting your console off once.
  • Support almost all the ds(i) games, even the ones with the infrared sensor.
  • Working on 3ds consoles via a nds launcher such as Dsimenu++.
All the savefiles will be saved and loaded from the folred "saves" placed in the root of your sd.

Enjoy :)

If possible, could you try to have this support being booted directly from homebrew exploits (Flipnote Lenny, Sudoku, etc.) as I wouldn't like to mix this up with my Roms and DSiWare, and moving it to a completely different folder takes some time to get to using DSiMenu++.
I didn't try via dsiwares, but it should work, in fact I only used dsimenu++ to test the touch, otherwise I boot it via unlaunch at startup

I tried Flipnote Lenny and Sudokuhax, and seemed to work fine afaik

It doesn't work with Art Academy. Changing name was a 1 byte save file. Not changing name don't let save or give an error.
I'll try with Face Training(dsi cartridge exclusive game) later.

Yeah slot is not powered on when you boot normal DSiWare, so direct launching this from Flipnote/Sudoku/etc will not work due to locked SCFG_EXT registers on arm7. You'll need CFW to either launch it as an installed app on System Menu or via another loader that has unlocked SCFG on arm7. ;)

I launched it using twlight menu. Like all other dsiwares.

I'm not sure now but I think I tried to dump rom from face training(dsi exclusive cartridge) and Art academy cartridge(dsi-enhanced) using wood slot 2 dumper from hiyacfw(emunand) and no dumps.

(Sorry for my engrish)
