So this post and the OP post. This project is indeed open source and the source is current. So obviously anyone can pick this project up.
If they don't want to be connected to the OP, then one can fork the project in order make something of it, but still distant from it. Just because we lost the original dev, doesn't mean we've lost their project.

Hope someone can pick up the project, not sure if the bgm music format can be chaged to bcstm so it could loop without problems.
