I'm using Smashax to get to the Homebrew channel to install the PSMDhax, but whenever I select the program on the channel itself, the top screen goes black and the bottom screen goes red. I've seen this before when I didn't have the Homebrew starter kit installed in the right folder, so I moved the PSMDhax folder around, but it still gave the same result.

I've tried a fresh install of the hax, but it's always the same problem. It's a N3DS with 10.7E firmware. The game itself is eShop.

Is there anything I can do to get it working?

If downgrading is your goal, ditching PSMDHax is probably your best bet. I've tested with other people and we had no success in getting it to run a kernel exploit for downgrading. Your best bet is probably OOT3DSHax.

That being said, make sure you have all the files from here, http://smd.salthax.org/

It should be /3ds/supermysterychunkhax_installer/*, and should have the xml file, 3dsx file, and smdh file.

Well, the Nintendo Selects version OoT is hackable, and it's only like 20 bucks, so that's a very viable option.

Your only other option is Cubic Ninja. I haven't tested much with VVVVVV but I had no success with it either, and given that it's off the eshop anyway at this point...

Is it on the eshop? I could grab it from Amazon, I guess

Yeah, both Cubic Ninja and VVVVVV are probably out of my price range

I haven't personally tested whether the eshop version works to downgrade, but others have said it has. It costs the same price as the physical version (which I know works for downgrading)

I have successfully downgraded a New3DS and an Old3DS with PSMDhax. I had to format the New3DS though because it always got stuck at hax init.
So Mystery Dungeon should not be the problem, at least for what i know.

Edit: Are you sure you slected the right payload? The New3DS one for New3DS and the Old3DS one for Old3DS?

The app isn't even BOOTING for him

His Primary entry point is Smashax. Y'Know, that one exploit nobody has been able to downgrade with? (lol)

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
