Gaming Red Ring of Death and modded firmware

So I got the RRoD today, and I have a modded firmware. I still have my warranty sticker. Will I be fine just putting it back on and mailing it off to Microsoft? Do you think they will check for the firmware?

Should be fine, A few of my mates have had this happen and MS repaired it
