FBI is failing to install the patched FIRM_AGB to my SD, although I can successfully install it to NAND. Any ideas?

Why did you install to SD? Even on emuNAND, to install something relates to system should be on NAND mode.

ah, well I did install to NAND in emuNAND, but GBA cias are still failing to boot in reiNAND. Is my GW installation interfereing with it?

I use FBI to install the FIRM and BBM to install GBA cias when being on Rei.

Weird thing is, both BBm and FBI crash for me in Rei, so I have to load them in GW mode. Maybe the problem lies there?

It's more of a cfw dev secret not very helpful to the non programming masses except for example the slot key for rxtools if ever ported to the n3ds

Just checked for you. Both Rei and GW emuNAND install any CIAs just fine but Rei can't run GBA but SysNAND-Pasta (both sys and emu NANDs have installed the AGB patch)
