I have a Ver. 4.4.0.0-10U OG 3DS XL which I still play(ed) when travelling, It has a red gateway card in the slot (without an SD card) and I think it was needed to boot the exploit, although I can't really remember. It wasn't used for booting games off of for a long time.

I used to trigger the exploit using the Nintendo DS Profile hack, which I recall would flash up a gateway screen with a dragon on before the console booted into my CFW.

However, for some reason this stopped working and I can't access the CFW, it just boots to the DS profile when I click the button. I suspect the gateway has died. The SD card with all my games on seems to be fine and i can browse the files on my PC.

I have a second unhacked N3DS on v11.17.0-50J. I can hack this one if needed (might be a good idea to transfer to this one really).

How can I get my games working again? Theres a decade of streetpass jigsaw progress on there!

What catboy says, just follow the guide on your old 3DS and update it to Luma, that will preserve all your games, saves, etc. Be sure to read the warning and extra instructions for upgrades from older custom firmwares, just to be sure you remove the old hack properly and a get clean LumaCFW going.

Also make a backup of your old SD from the 3DS before doing anything, show all hidden and system files and throw everything into a folder on your PC where you'll find it again.

Wow! That’s an outdated setup! You will need to update to get anywhere

If it aint broke...! I was always aprehensive about updating since I wasnt sure if I could potentially lose my games/saves and since it worked, i just left it. If i can just update the hack and my data is safe, thats awesome. I will look into it. Thanks, appreciated :grog:
