its more of a ostentation that being that useful. maybe the new design has made them feel it deserves this price or maybe they are aiming for many sales but few sales with big profit.

A better desktop, but this is a laptop. Why doesn't anybody get it? I mean you all keep saying "just get a desktop!! herp derp it's cheaper to build your own herp derp!" THIS IS A LAPTOP! The specs are pretty good for a laptop IMO, it's meant for the portable gamer.

3000 is pretty excessive... I have a hard enough time paying 200 for a game console. I can't imagine a game being good enough that I might feel the need to spend 3000 on a machine that will be outdated in a couple years just so I can play it "on the go". PC gamers blow my mind.

You don't have to play a game at max settings to enjoy it, and not every game is Crysis.
In addition, it's not 2006 anymore.

You can go out and buy a laptop right now for $900 that will play modern games smoothly on medium (and more forgiving games like Portal 2 on high).

I spent $600, monitor and mouse/keyboard included for a desktop that runs all new games at max/ultra settings. honestly when the gaming rig cost that much was 10 years ago...

it's expensive because of the portability factor... there's a reason why desktops are cheap.

I spent $650 on my recently built PC (i3 2100 and Radeon HD 6770) and it can play all the game I want smoothly. Obviously I don't play game like Crysis.

all i care is: good fps and be able to play the game
after that, i rly can't care about the graphics

gaming notebooks are possibly the worst investment, i rly can't understand ppl who are looking after sth like this
i recommended for a friend an hp pavilion dv6 6002 that was around 750 usd ati 6 series, core i3, 1333mhz ram frequency, and 7200rpm hdd
and he can play everything on it, flawlessly in addition to the notebook being very well built and having a great audio[compared to the famous y560 lenovo budget gaming notebook, what's basically black origami paper and glue]

so 2-3k$ for a notebook? no please
desktop pc + asus eee pc x101 + my soon arriving asus eee pad transformer = win > 2-3k$ notebook

Well I can imagine someone buying this (I know a person who bought a 3000$ laptop for gaming on bus rides). Personally I think this is a bad combo, but perhaps there is enough market for these.

Laptop looks great, the touchpad screen is kinda intriguing....but the price tag just gives it away....Pfft. I'd rather buy a gaming PC, PS3, XBOX 360, Wii, 3DS, Vita, and some games than wasting so much on that.

Laptop Gaming = Not Good.

PC Gaming = THIS IS THE SHIZ
