Gaming Race Driver fans

I can't seem to stay up late enough to race online. I can't wait for this to hit shelves in the US so that I'm not 7-12 hours out of sync with the rest of the players.

I've looked at gamestop's online inventory system, and if the rest of the retail world is going the same way create&race is probably not going to be a very popular game in this area. There aren't many locations with it even on order yet.

Whats yours Madkatz?  I'll prob be on a bit later.  Ive not gone on Wifi yet trying to get used to the handling so I don't get killed online.
Its on the first page

yeah it doesnt seem like a very popular game.

I cant find anyone online to verse! shame too... online is way more fun that single player. versing computers is very un-satisfying since they can do whatever they want, morph through other cars, run up that back of me (therefore going the same speed as me) then continue to speed past me... They brake for corners which are unecessary to brake at, while they speed through other corners then dump on the brakes last minute but somhow complete the corner perfectly without going on the grass

versing others is much more satisfying

yeah, the AI is kind of...nonexistant... My favorite is at the starting line when they all magically 'snap' into a single column and don't care where I am in the process. If I'm lucky I can get out in front before taking light damage.

when I first started, I also made the mistake of following cars with an "if he can do it, I can too" attitude watching for the brake lights. Then I realized that if you can't get ahead of them off the starting line, they'll just bash you to death for the rest of the race. Forza this is not, but it's still a lot closer than I thought it'd be.

I kind of think multiple ghost cars would be more fun to race against than this AI. But that would be brutally hard. maybe download 2-3 other people's ghosts (in your class) for offline racing. I think it'd be a nice feature for the next game and would position it as more of an online racer.

This game will get at least a little more popular though. Press pre-release has been pretty excessive, especially at IGN and what reviews are out are all pretty good. I have yet to see it in stores, which is where most folks make their serious buying decisions. So when it hits shelves, multiplayer fun will still be had. I can't wait to play a 4 player custom track series. With certain cars, I'm getting decent at emergency breaking/cornering for tracks I don't know. In a 4-player race, I think I could pull 2nd on somebody elses track as long as it wasn't terribly miserable.

I hear the sport in general and game series both have quite the following in australia--is it available in stores there yet?

Sorry I didnt understand that... If it's about the game being availiable in stores in australia, I doubt it... We allways get everything weeks/months after the states. LoZ wasnt too bad, it should come out here in 6 days.. but most games take forever to come.

yeah I hear that about the AI... I find it funny how I can be driving normally minding my own bussiness, and some clown tears up the side of me, jams in front of me and puts his brakes on for no reason, and I get a penalty for it!!!

Tried for about 10mins to find a game online, but still couldnt find one

anybody gotten past tier 13 yet? According to the faq sites a rather lot of track pieces become available at that point. (over 20) I'd like to know if those pieces are worthwhile, since I'm getting beat into the ground on tier 9 and can't imagine getting that far any time soon.

what I wouldn't give for an action replay code to turn them into ghost cars...

well the track pieces are pretty nice, and in truth you only have to get to tier 10 to buy them. Oh, I didn't 'successfully' get up there. I may have cheated a bit with the ingame codes.

but there is a little trick where somebody could, say, turn on the codes, get to tier 10, buy a bunch of pieces in the shop and design tracks all day long and still be able to save them... now progress, unlockables and items purchased in shop aren't saved when codes are on--but custom tracks are.

I finally managed to buy the game. It looks like it hit US gamestops in my area yesterday, so as far as online play, game-on.

Good thing too. This single player AI has become so horrible/difficult that I haven't played it in days. Hopefully 4-player online will bring me back.

Yea its a good game but there's hardly anyone online... I could wait 15mins and... no one. Certainly packed in allot of features

Whats the max racers you've raced online with at the same time so far? For me its 3.

Edit: forgot to mention that online racers rarely select you as a rival cuz they don't realise you actually have to tap the name before pressing ok. That sux but if you race more than 1 you realise you have to tap the name because you can't scroll.
