yeah, the AI is kind of...nonexistant... My favorite is at the starting line when they all magically 'snap' into a single column and don't care where I am in the process. If I'm lucky I can get out in front before taking light damage.
when I first started, I also made the mistake of following cars with an "if he can do it, I can too" attitude watching for the brake lights. Then I realized that if you can't get ahead of them off the starting line, they'll just bash you to death for the rest of the race. Forza this is not, but it's still a lot closer than I thought it'd be.
I kind of think multiple ghost cars would be more fun to race against than this AI. But that would be brutally hard. maybe download 2-3 other people's ghosts (in your class) for offline racing. I think it'd be a nice feature for the next game and would position it as more of an online racer.
This game will get at least a little more popular though. Press pre-release has been pretty excessive, especially at IGN and what reviews are out are all pretty good. I have yet to see it in stores, which is where most folks make their serious buying decisions. So when it hits shelves, multiplayer fun will still be had. I can't wait to play a 4 player custom track series. With certain cars, I'm getting decent at emergency breaking/cornering for tracks I don't know. In a 4-player race, I think I could pull 2nd on somebody elses track as long as it wasn't terribly miserable.
I hear the sport in general and game series both have quite the following in australia--is it available in stores there yet?
