Hey people

I had my R4 for about 1,3 years and the microSD slot is just died / busted / broken?.

It can't read any microSD atall, either gives a "Couldn't find SD/TF card" or "SD/TF card error", though the microSD card is just fine. (And yes, it do work on other R4, and I tried other mciroSD in my R4 too.)

So, is there a way to fix it / repair it?

And, why this has happened? I thought microSD slots lasts forever.

Thanks in advance.

Did the spring break? Or is the Loader broken.
The spring broken after 1-2 or max. 3 months, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE SPRING!!!

It's about THE microSD reader/writer part!! It's just can't read it!!!

I'm sure there isn't, if no MicroSD is read. You could try to open the R4 case to have a closer look at it.

Because it broke? Everlasting MicroSD slots don't exist, just like evrlarsting MicroSD's, R4's and DS Lites don't exist.

I opened it up... but, I see nothing bad at there. What am I to watch out?

And used the old trick too... blown into it a lot of times...

I have quite a similiar problem, my R4 have some problem reading my microsd, the little trick I use is, I press the R4 tightly when I insert the microSD, it will have a louder sound of "click" when I insert it, kinda fix it that way, loosy R4 perhaps, try see if it helps

Blowing into carts is completely retarded; all it does is introduce moisture to the inside of the cart. Use something else to blow air into it, other than your own breath.

But if it's inserted completely, it give me the SD/TF card error.

No matter how / how much times I try, the outcome is always the same.

reformat?

Well if that didn't work, it served you well mate. 1.3 years is alot

The slot's degrading. Maybe we all need a new R4? Without a spring?

R4 is for some time now with no spring.

try re-soldering the contacts back on. That should give it a fix possibly.

or bend the contacts that connect to the MicoSD

Uh, can you give me a more precise and more detailed way how to do this? i really want to save my R4!! Thanks

If the flashcard is working then there can only be two possible problems that come to mind.

1 the soldering job has gone bad and so you're going to have to re-solder the microSD slot back onto the chip

2 the contacts are worn out and not connecting well enough with the MicroSD

Solution 1
open up the flashcard, get your soldering iron and de-soldering braid and have a go at it. (this procedure is quit difficult but can be done, proceed with cation) I've done this many times with my CycloDS Evo when the microSD was sticking out I re-aligned the microSD slot so that it would be flush. The R4 has a thinner chip so its more fragile be extra carefully with it.

Solution 2
open up the R4 and take a sawing needle and push the contacts up giving to allow them to connect better to the MicroSD. This solution is a lot easier and safer for the flashcard. But be carefull always.

hope you can pull that off.
Cheers

Hm OKAY, thanks! I'll try it. And the R4 have worked perfectly, and the mciroSD's inside 100%all time. OK, thanks!
