Hacking R4i3DS FIRMWARE V1.35B does not work

Just got a new new Nintendo 3DS and decided to buy a R4I3DS card. After downloaading and installing R4I-3DS V1.35B English I got the black screen telling me to hold down the power button and contact Nintendo. Ithought these flashcards are supposed to work without problems. Have I got a 3DS that cant use a flashcart or what should I do.

Have you tried reformatting the sd card and putting firmware on it ?

Yes done all that, just waiting to see if there is another updated firmware for the card. Can Nintendo block these cards by doing their own update?

It's the same thing as the DSi, new firmwares can block them... but as far as we know another firmware hasn't come out in the past few days.
