Ok so I got an R4i SDHC Card 1.4.4. The version on the card says 1.59b. I dont have any problems playing on my dsi which is on 1.4.1u but when i try to play on my dsi xl which is on 1.4.4u no games will load. They just stay on a white screen during load up. Just wondering if anyone could help me with this problem.

It might be a contact issue between your flashcart and your dsi xl. Try these solutions (they're for acekard, but should work on any flashcart with similar structure).

The R4i will load up on the dsi xl and i can access the menu but when i try to load a game it just stays at the white screen. Should i still try this paper trick?

Precisely, you should try it out. Most of them are revertible, anyways.

If the paper tirck doesn't work, it might just be your micro sd card. you can attempt a format using the panasonic sd formatter (never use your OS' stock formatter). Make sure you backup all of your contents before formatting, as it will erase all data on the micro sd card.

Ok ill try the paper trick in a moment. The formatter was the first thing i tried and it didnt seem to do anything. Now that you mention it though ill also try another sd i have and see if that makes a difference. Also thanks for lending your time to help me out.

Edit: Ok I tried the paper trick and formatting 2 different sd cards and trying both of them. Neither worked. Any game i try to load up in the dsi xl will just stay at white screen but they work on the dsi.

They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It's a locked down Linux distro basically

I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Every games basically cross platform they only have about 6 titles making it worth the $600 price tag

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
