Hacking R4i Gold 3DS r4ids.cn Problems

Hi guys I'm new to the site so bear with me!

I received a R4i gold 3ds card through the other day that is allegedly compatible with DSi Firmware 1.4.3, however when I put the card in the DSi it showed up the usual "an error has occured"message.

The card shows up as "Chessmaster" and after reading around on the internet the r4i gold 3ds cards that seem to be working with dsi 1.4.3 show up as a spongebob game.

Now this is where the problems started... I have a dsi and another R4 card to do the updates so...

I tried doing an upgrade patch to the card but by mistake I flashed it with the r4ids.com firmware NOT the r4ids.cn,

Not realising my mistake the upgrade completed and now the card just freezes on "loading"

I understand there is sort of a recovery procedure using the working r4 card, loading up the correct patch and swapping the cards, but when I do this it shows up "FAIL Try reinserting the card" etc...

Does anyone have any tips/tricks to force the card to update again? The r4ids.com update runs and completes so I can't understand why the correct .cn patch won't run,

Also finally should the R4i Gold 3ds card actually work with 1.4.3 when showing up as a "chessmaster" game?


Sorry for all the questions, I fear I may have to accept I've wasted my money!

Be sure the website on the sticker must be www.r4ids.cn, which can support NDSi V1.43 directly.
Just have a look at the genuine R4i Gold(r4ids.cn) and have comparision.

If it is a genuine r4i gold released by www.r4ids.cn, please send a mail to [email protected] or [email protected] to get technical support.
It's very easy to solve your problem

I have emailed support with the issue, I'm wondering if the card I have has been flashed with 3DS V2.0.0-2 Patch for R4i gold 3DS. (Jun. 11th,2011) as this seems to be the one that turns it into chessmaster,

I had a similar problem. I have an R4i Gold with the 3DS sticker and it shows Chessmaster. I also thought it was supposed to work on 1.4.3 but it didn't. So I figured I had a non-3DS card and updated it using the non-3DS update on r4ids.cn and it was no longer recognized.

I used an another Acekard and flashed it using the 3DS update from r4ids.cn and it worked but still shows up as chessmaster. I think I was also having trouble updating it but ran the update. Then swapped the card I used to run the update for the card that needed to be updated then run the update procedure. If it doesn't work keep removing and inserting the card until it does.

I e-mailed supporting trying to find out if I had a 3DS or non-3DS card because non-3DS update wouldn't work (it was no longer recognized by the DS or DSi) but it displayed chessmaster (after I flashed it with the 3DS update). I don't think they understood my question at all.

All R4i Gold 3DS released by r4ids.cnhave been pre-flashed to support NDSi V1.4.3.
If yours can not support NDSi V1.43, just try updating your card with the patch downloaded here:

Besides, would you please tell me which online store you get this card from?
This store may have done a stupid thing.
There is no need to update R4i Gold 3DS(r4ids.cn) to support NDSi V1.4.3.

Got it from realhotstuff.com. It has the 3DS sticker on the packaging but the card itself does not say 3DS.
