First question: Can I use this R4i on a 3ds 11.9

Second question: Is this R4i compatible to use NTRBoot because my DS mode is broken

Idk if it supports NTRboot but on 3ds there's are special cfw homebrews which allow you to launch ds flashcards by emulating the ds startup.

• Ntrboot can be used despite of broken DS mode.
• Get the R4i Gold 3DS Plus because it is preflashed.
  • If you get another, ntrboot compatible (but not preflashed) flashcart, you will need a different (2|3)DS(i) system to run "ds_ntr_boot_flasher" or "ntrboot_flasher".

The answer did not change. There are no (public) software only exploits (that don't use the DS mode) for installing CFW on versions ≥ 11.4.

According to the Github issue zoogie has linked your flashcart is not compatible for ntrboot. But if you install CFW (with another flashcart) and repair you are successful at repairing your DS-mode there is no reason why the R4i v1.4.5 should not work for playing DS games.

If the DS mode was working, you can use that flashcart as-is or with NTR Launcher if it's blocked by the DS whitelist. For ntrboot cfw hacking, no it's not supported.

If the R4i Gold 3DS Plus for $20 is too much, here's another ntrboot option, but you'll need a (2/3)DS(XL/LL) or DS(i)(XL/lite) that can reflash it.

Unless you have a close-by 3DS buddy or know someone who has one of these who'll be your ntrboot fairy, then unfortunately yes, you would have to purchase one of those said carts.

Yes. That cart also comes preflashed with B9S, but to change it back to a DS flashcart that can run DS games, you have to use a patcher.
That cart is also a bit shitty and costs around the same as the R4i Gold 3DS Plus so I would just get the Plus instead.

That one's shit because of time bomb. Spending the extra €2.50 is worth getting a trouble-free, easy to use ntrboot + DS modes flashcart.
