Question: I have an internal hard drive, so can I use an enclosure for the USB and use it witht he USB loader?
Correct, and they've compiled a list here of HDDs and enclosures that have worked with varying success.

thanks; ok then, i tried to format my internal drive to WBSF, but i got an error : "an error occured while attempting to format the drive" . In order to format, do i have to put it in an enclosure first?

I have an virgin 4.0E Wii on me. I've got Homebrew Channel installed, with bannerbomb exploit. Obviously, as I tried, cIOS won't install for me to get backup loader to work. How do I install cIOS? I think I'd have to to downgrade a certain IOS to allow installation of cIOS 36 I think. Or something like that. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Okay, I have a question to ask. Let's say I bought my Wii from the UK (PAL) and I am in a NTSC country, should I be getting PAL games or NTSC games for my generally NTSC TV? Will USB Loader GX be able to play them just fine? Also, how's the compatibility of usb loaders with GC/Wii games? Will a drivekey be able to play the games which the loaders can't?

If you run games with geckOs (or BL if they are backups), you can play games from every region. There is also a preloader hack making this possible.
Will USB Loader GX be able to play them just fine? USB loader = region free
Also, how's the compatibility of usb loaders with GC/Wii games? Wii: Good, GC: NONE
Will a drivekey be able to play the games which the loaders can't? Drivekey = Modchip = plays everything, but may need the preloader 'region free games' hack

Great thanks for your reply, it was really helpful. I will probably get a modchip then along with softmodding so that I can play the GC games that I missed out. Isnt there a GC usb loader though (Gamecube Backup Launcher 0.2)?

The GC backup launcher 2.0 can launch GC backups, even without hardmod, but not from usb

A forwarder channel loads a .dol on a specific place on the SD card.
in this case SD:/usbloader_gx/(boot.dol)
Normal channels have the app build-in and so do not need the SD card

So if I understand a forwarded channel does need to be installed on the Wii NAND mem, right? If I have it on the SD card I can run it directly from the SD!

A forwarder installs as a channel, but loads the boot.dol instead of a build-in app
But you can move it to SD card

Thanks.

Got another question, just saw that USB Loader GX freezes when you try to enter the second game (you load a game, play a bit, then exit that game and if you try to enter another it freezes). I must turn-of turn-on my Wii to play another game using USB Loader GX.
USB Loader GX FAQ states that this is a limition of cIOS38 13b. So do the others USB loaders do the same? Because if not I'm considering installing another one, because this is anoying... (turn-off turn-on...)

I have a question. If I install a game to my hard drive from a disk in the Wii, does the USB loader automatically scrub the game? Or would I be better off using a manager on my PC to put the games on my drive?

i dontno if this belongs here but can u play downloaded games instead of buying games on ur wii

like a ds flash cart

Hi,

After installing BootMii, cIOS38 rev13b, homebrew channel, Backup Loader and USB Loader, I've checked my Wii memory stored channels and see one channel named:
Name: ?
Description: ???
Blocks: 14

What is this? Is it safe to delete?

how can i get rockband drums and guitar to work with usb loaders? do i need Hermes' cIOS i looked but not much info on it..........im using rev12 and ultimate usb loader....should i use sumthin else?

Hiya,

Im very new to the softmod scene, did the bannerbomb on my wii this morning and have successfully installed the Homebrew and USB Loader GX channel.

When I try and play a backup game using the USB Loader GX channel some of them will work however some of them will code dump and put some text on the screen, I read that code dumps should be reported however I didn't want to report dumps that could be a result of something I am doing wrong.

When i load USB Loader GX through the Homebrew menu I can play any backup without a problem, it is only when I try and use the USB Loader GX channel that the dumps happen. Is there any obvious reason why this would be happening?

Im not sure what sort of information you might need to help me with this but Ill try and provide what ever I can.

I don't mind using the homebrew loader but the USB Loader GX Channel is much more kid friendly ... no more scratched Discs !!! : )

Thanks.

Update

The Wing Island game doesnt work through the channel either, the backups that do are :

Simpsons
Mario Strikers
Mercury Revoltion
Lego Star Wars

I found the following info as well

The Wii System is version 4.0E, Homebrew version is 1.0.3 and I have IOS61v19.26.

The channel is rev468 and all I can tell about the homebrew app is that it is Ver 1.0

I found that compatibility (which is awesome btw) and both games should work (and they do for the homebrew app). Would the compatibility for the channel be different?

Got to the credits for the HBC one (the star in the options menu), you should see the rev somewhere
they should have the same compatibility
