So since my old SD card died completely and all that I have is a relatively old backup of the data on it, I'm asking the following questions:
- Can I just use the old backup without problems?
- Will I also lose save data or is it stored on the NAND?
- Will I only have to reinstall the games stored on the SD card or also the ones from the NAND?
- How would I go about setting the new card up?

The old backup might contain an old version of Atmosphere/Hekate that doesn't work with your current firmware (if you ever updated your firmware).

Save data is stored in the Sysnand or in the emummc.
If you were using an emummc, then your most recent save data is also lost with the SD card.

If you were using the sysnand without an emummc, then you only need to reinstall games that were on the SD card.
Else you'll have to start from scratch, installing everything.

If I managed to recover the emuMMC folder from the SD card, save data should be fine, yes?
