Hacking [Question] Are there any VC or eShop DS games on the 3DS?

I wondered if the 3DS could potentially run DS games from it's internal SD card?

I don't see why not, but there aren't any out currently

It certainly *could*, but Nintendo hasn't done anything yet. We could do it ourselves only if we managed to get kernel access and hack the firmware to behave as such.

I think by that time we'll have fully functional custom firmware. Not that I wouldn't mind it. The Gateway is nice and all, but something built in would be better.

The latest Advance Wars game came out for Japanese 3DS club nintendo members as a download. My understanding is it works as a DSi title.

It never came out in Japan except through this method.

Sure no problem, why Nintendo hasn't take advantage of it for out-of-print DS game is another mystery.

Even if this were possible emunand cannot redirect the firmware correctly running this game will result in a black screen same with the ambassador gba games unless someone adds the feature of redirecting correctly in the cfw or ! gateway adds this feature in it won't be possible

We can't play DSi stuff in emuNAND anyway.

Though I'd wonder if you could make .cia files out of DSiWare and install them if you have a NAND flash port installed and stick your emuNAND back on realNAND for it.
