Hey;

I just finished soft-modding my friends Wii, and It went through without any problems. This is just a little concern that I am afraid I might run into. When I followed the tutorial on WiiHacks; I installed an optional Shop update. This is the concern I am having, I didn't find any shop updates for my friends Wii; and he is always playing COD: Black Ops on the internet (he has the real copy). I was wondering that if a update came out for Black Ops, would it stop him from being able to play his game online?

If so, how can I update mine, and his Wii's so that we have the latest shop update?

Thanks;

So;

I can use ModMii to download the files necessary to install the new channel?

Also, can I just use Wad Manager 1.7 to install the files?

Thanks.
Yes, but you will also need to update modmii if a new shop channel is out, and you should be able to install it with wad manager 1.7.

A ModMii update should not be hard to get, I am just gathering information as a pre-caution;

I don't want to stop my friend from being able to play his COD game.

By the way, one more question.

I only modded his Wii today, and he had it updated to the latest 4.3U update. So, does this mean that he has the latest Shopping Channel update? Also, if I don't have the update downloaded from ModMii, can you still download/buy free/priced content from the store?

Thanks much.

Yes, this is no problem.

Correct. Update 4.3 includes the shop channel update.

The shop channel will say you need to update the whole wii everytime. Only when you updating the shop channel you will be able to download content. You don't need to download the update with modmii, that's correct.

Also, if I don't have the update downloaded from ModMii, can you still download/buy free/priced content from the store? No, it will ask to update your wii first

Thanks much.

Thanks everyone;

Now if there is ever a system menu update, I can just download the shop update so that I can continue playing the games online, etc. without updating the whole Wii and removing my Soft Mods.

Thanks for explaining it to me, Sorry if it is a bit of a newby question.

That's correct, it will need to update the channels and it's IOSes, you don't need a whole system update.

Thanks for all the info

Sorry about this newby question, but are there detailed instructions for updating the shopping channel?

I have verison 4.2 and i want to use netflix and need to update the shopping channel to do this, but I went through Wii System Channels Updater v0.21 and now I get Error #002 when I go to the shopping channel.

Is there any way to fix this, so the shopping channel works?

Thanks

Yes! You will need IOS56!
Get NUS Downloader here:
http://code.google.com/p/nusdownloader/dow...mp;can=2&q=
Start it, select extras... - Retrieve common key (key.bin) copy this to the title id field:
0000000100000038
Let the v box free, enable pack -> WAD, start nus download, then open the new created 0000000100000038 folder and install the IOS56 wad with a wad manager and IOS236 or IOS36 if you don't have it.
