i have homebrew channel v 1.0.8 with ios61
how do i get to ios58 so i can use wiimc? i already tried ios58 installer and it says installed but its still the same...

You might have IOS58 already installed on your Wii. Try running the hackmii installer again. It should use IOS58 the second time around.

hi, i`m a frequent reader and i just create a account to reply this thread!

if you sucessfully installed ios 58 using the installer than all you have to do is to re-install HBC 1.0.8 under IOS 58... you can say it OK checking out on the upper right screen of you HBC
(download it and launch the boot.dol from HBC)

Besides being able to use WiiMC, is there any other advantage in using HBC 1.0.8 in IOS58 (instead of IOS61)?

IOS58 is what allows the Homebrew Channel to access any USB HDD formatted to FAT32. This allows you to store any homebrew applications inside a FAT32 formatted HDD, and eliminates certain needs of an SD card, which is very limited in space in comparison.

HBC was reading from HDDs before the whole IOS58/ahbprot/no dvdx fiasco. the advantages IOS58 provides are faster read speeds and being able to use a USB HUB.
