Hacking Question about disabling updates

Hi, I have a Wiikey v1 modded Wii with U4.0 SM and BootMii (boot2).
I have no problem running un-brickblocked games through Gecko OS
but I was wondering if there was a patch (like startpatch) that would
let me automatically disable updates in the disc channel. I would use
start patch but I'm afraid that all of the other features might clog up
my system ( i don't want any other features, I just want the update
disable feature). Does anyone have an alternative or a success story
with a modded wii installing startpatch and working?
