Gaming Question about Broken PSP

hi,

a friend bought a "broken" psp, the description at ebay saied its only a broken screen and that everything else works fine,
now i tried it and it won't boot at all

the screen shortly seems to try to show something than the psp is off again.

so i believe this is not only a display error right ?

and umm to check if its something with the display is it possible to use the screen of my psp to try? i know most of those you can buy are without
the need to solder ... would it be same with the original one ?

And if its not a problem with the display any chance to still repair it ?
any "easy" to repair things that could cause this to happen ?

Well .... now i am surprised ...
i put in my batterie and it worked now i really have only the broken display ... weird.
i had the psp on the charger and still it made a difference if the batterie is fully charged or not
