Sorry in advance if this is stupid, I'm trying to wrap my head around it.

Basically I have a 1.0.0 OFW Switch and want to make a 6.1 emunand on sd, without burning fuses or updating GC slot on my 1.0.0 OFW. I have made a NAND backup before running any CFW, side note. What I am a bit confused about, I know autoRCM is to prevent burning fuses. But since I will need to load the sd emunand through the SX OS menu anyway, is there any chance of fuses burning without autoRCM? Since it will never go through the Nintendo bootloader? And if I do need to use autoRCM for the sd emunand, do I activate it through ChoiDurjourNX during installation, or with SX OS menu? And if I don't install autoRCM would the system boot into the 1.0.0 OFW NAND like normal, with still a fuse count of 1, and GC slot intact?

Thanks in advance for the help guys. Couldn't find this information and looked for a while.

You don't need to use AutoRCM to prevent fuses from being burnt when you are running an EmuNAND firmware higher than your fuse count precisely because of what you said; you cannot boot into EmuNAND with Nintendo's bootloader but with SX OS which disables fuses from being burnt as of V1.1.

However, if you do boot a firmware of 4.0 or higher, the gamecart slot will become updated unless the CFW you are using supports the nogc patch. And the evidence that SX OS supports such a patch is mixed so its safer to assume they do not support it otherwise they would have outlined it in one of their releases/changelogs. If you don't want to update the gamecart slot, I'd recommend you use a CFW that does support the nogc patch such as Atmosphere or ReiNX.

I appreciate the reply! I use SX OX so I guess my GC slot is most likely updated then :/ Maybe in the future it will be possible to downgrade if needed.
