Competitive??? Puyo Puyo??? Dr. robotnik's mean bean machine kirby's avalanche whaaaaaat???
A lot of you may be familiar with the games Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine or Kirby's Avalanche. Those were actually a clone of the game Puyo Puyo. Of course, since then, Puyo has gone through revisions, and now it has the most solid competitive play of any game. PP2 introduced Counter rules, which allows you to counter garbage that's going to fall instead of awaiting your imminent doom like in PP1/DRMBM/KA. PPFever introduced Fever mode, and the newest PP7 introduced transformation mode.
Competitive Puyo Puyo is fairly complex; it's more than just popping 4 colors over and over. You've gotta look at your opponent's screen (yes, that's actually a legitimate move in this game, and it's very helpful) and attack weakpoints in their chaining in order to win. A simple 2 chain can beat a 15 chain if the guy with the 15 chain gets hit and can't set it off. Competitive Puyo Puyo is all about stability and control.
