6.61 does not currently exist, but a later firmware could come out at any moment so it's best to get a PSP as soon as you can.

There's no 6.39 PRO, iirc. If you're referring to 6.39 ME, then yes, it is permanent. For the ME versions, there's a cfw version (hacks only for 1000 or pre-patched 2000s which are permanent) and a lcfw version (hacks for any model psp, but no permanent). I say just go with 6.20 PRO + perma patch.

Oh okay, thanks for the heads-up.

btw does 6.39 pro have a perma patch? I'm pretty sure that 6.35 doesn't, so I'm thinking that 6.39 doesn't either.

The higher 6.x versions of PRO can use the CIPL, but that only works for 1000s and the the fully-hackable 2000s since it's the old "permanent" method.
