Thank you in advance for any and all help provided,

I recently was given a PSP 2001 and the unit does not charge nor does it turn on while plugged into the charger. However, if I charge the battery with another PSP and swap the battery the system does turn on and works fine. I swapped out the power plug on the unit with a working plug but that didn't work. I was looking for troubleshooting info on the web and I believe the issue might be the fuse by the power plug port on the motherboard. But I have not found any pics of it Would anyone have a pic that I may access for further troubleshooting?

There are around 7 fuses in total. Maybe these pictures could help troubleshoot your problem.

thank you so much for the reply @SylverReZ,

Thought it would only be fuse "F6602 (2.5A)" by the power source on the MB, didn't realize there would be 6 others to troubleshoot.

Hello there,

This is my first post in this forum and let me tell you that I'm not professional in Electronic (and I trying to improve my English). I had an PSP 3004 without the charger by years. A few days ago I bought a new charger and a new "original" battery (I don't know how original could be). The thing is that I used my PSP by a day, yes, just a single day and at the night I leaved the PSP charging for enjoy at the next morning.

The problem is that at the next morning I noticed that the PSP wasn't charged and, It refused to charge again. I thought that the charger just burned out but I noticed that the voltage was OK. I decided to check the mainboard fuses and everything appears to be ok.

With the multimeter, checking for continuity, I noticed that is there continuity between positive and negative terminals at the power socket.

When I have the power connected to the mainboard, I noticed that only this module (covered with a metallic conver) is warming (arround 30 grades celcius), I think that is the BMC module (I can't to paste the images because the forum policy).

I decided to remove the cover and I found that two components apparently blowed up, I don't know if are fuses, diodes or capacitors.

The metalic cover for that module says something like (is a little bit deteriored): FOXCONN 60H975 69 IIGI600

The main chip on that module says: MARVELL W8686S81 125AAUP

Could you please tellme what is that module in order to try to get a replacement?

Do you have any recommendations?

Best regards,

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

@BakerMan, Any idea what happened? I hope that your brother's doing good.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
What matters now is that he's doing alright.

But you still don't know what it was?
