Screw next gen. The current gen of consoles are fine for now. I would be happy with a kinect version 2 or other upgrade to improve the current gen.

Another slightly mad idea.
To save on development costs they should do something like the DS and DSi. For instance on a 360 you could double the RAM and put in a slightly more powerful GPU but otherwise leave it the all same. Call it the 360X then produce games that can run in X mode for additional eye candy and content. You could keep it simple and just make the game with 1080p textures for the X and 720 for standard and include some additional physics if the X hardware is available. If you really wanted to piss people off you could include special hi res, high poly multiplayer maps that only work on the X consoles.
