Gaming PS3 update

So Im borrowing my friends PS3 to play Super Street Fighter 4. He uses the other OS function but if I wanna go online, will it force an update hence removing this feature?

You can't log into PSN without having to update, so yes the feature WILL be removed.

Try this

That method no longer works since Sony introduced further checks. There's no way to get onto PSN at the moment without updating.
