Hey guys. I am wondering if anyone has an Aimtrack light gun (allegedly works on ps2 according to manufacturer) working on a ps2
Running fmcboot and snes and genesis emulation? I am curious if this lightgun or any ps2 lightgun works on snes or genesis roms? Also ps1 titles? Area 51, super scope, lethal enforcers 2 (genesis)?

The Sinden camera light gun works on PS2 and PC/Linux. I've seen people play Duck Hunt, so I imagine SNES and Genesis are possible. Although, not sure how it works with SNES/Genesis emulators on PS2 vs PC emulators. You could ask Sinden. This is supposed to be much more positionally flexible than Aimtrack.

I have these guns and they work great for PS2 games, but I highly doubt they’re supported in the emulators themselves, the gun doesn’t even work in PS1 mode of a PS2.

Thats a bummer. I posted in your ps2 slim post. Saving the laser and not using the disks. I have had lots of problems getting my ps2 to take flight with fmcboot. If it could go wrong it did. And many in the forums told me to just get another one. I never gave up and now love my fmcboot ps2 that was supposed to be for mugwart

Bummer. That was one of my questions for him. What about if you play tge ps1 games through pops on ps2?
I have two Sinden guns with recoil on order. May be a couple months before they arrive but I will try to remember to post results when they get here.

The EMS Topgun 3 works on the PS2 as a guncon 2 and works on LCD screens. It will still only work on guncon 2 compatible games though.

Your best option is to use a PC for emulators. The PS2 is not a great emulation machine anyway.

There are a bunch of LCD screen compatible gun options for a PC and you'd be able to use one gun for all systems including the PS2, Snes and Wii etc.

The absolute best LCD compatible gun option (IMO) are the Sega Type 2 arcade guns. They aren't cheap but they're accurate and easy to adapt to use on a PC:

Yeah I still have my EMS Top Gun 3 and have about 180 lightgun games setup through Launchbox working with it. There's even arcade games like Time Crisis 5 on PC now emulated.

Yeah, it's an awesome time to be a light gun fan!

BTW, Time Crisis 5 isn't emulated. It's cracked. The original arcade is PC based. The cracked version just works on a regular PC with mouse input.

That is the same with most games in Teknoparrot too. It's why a lot of the latest HD arcade games work better than some emulated games that are 20+ years old.

I have a couple of shooting cabs set up in my basement. With a pair of recoil guns it's pure magic!

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
