I have a v4 PS2 fat one. I want to be able to play backups, as i have had it for about...5 years now with not many games for it lol. I was hearing about the Independence Exploit, and my friend has a modded ps2 that i can get my memory card to get the files on there but i was wondering with the independence exploit, would it be able to play backups or only stuff on the harddrive? Is there any other solution out there?(No modchips please lol)

Yes, it would be able to play backups, assuming you install cogswap as one of your ELFs and have a method of swapping discs without pressing eject, such as a fliptop lid or a slide card to unlock the drive tray.

I just did this myself about a week ago, so if you need any further help just ask.

you have 2 options:

- buy a network adapter and ide harddisk and run all your games from hdd using the hdloader program
- buy swapmagic and use the cogswap everytime you want to play a burned game.

what i did:

fat ps2: harddisk
slim ps2: swapmagic
