It may be that the game is just too demanding, try dropping the settings to absolute minimum. Either that or maybe try undervolting the VRAM? I'd be loathe to do that if other games are working fine, though

The GT 710 is not designed for playing games. It’s designed for multimedia playback and basic use in machines that do not have built in Intel graphics. Especially AAA games such as Battlefield 3 where they try and push graphics high in order to make a bigger spectacle and grab more sales.

Don’t have the specs to hand, but any GPU comparison site will show just how weak that card is. I can’t get a stable connection to show me (on a high speed cross-country train right now) but a quick and dirty lookup shows me the 710 is roughly 2-4 times weaker than an 8800 GT, so it’s no surprise it can’t work with that game.

Also, minimum requirements for Battlefield 3 (pulled from top google result):

  • Processor: 2GHZ Dual Core (Core 2 Duo 2.4GHZ or Athlon x2 2.7GHZ)
  • Memory: 2GB RAM
  • Hard drive: 20GB
  • Graphics card AMD: DirextX 10.1 compatible with 512MB RAM (ATI Radion 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000 series, with ATI Radion 3870 or higher performance)
  • Graphics card Nvidia: DirectX 10.0 compatible with 512MB RAM (Nvidia GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500 series with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher performance)
