Hello,

So i tried installing Zelda Breath of the Wild using the Haxchi + Wup Installer Gx2. The installation worked well yet when i try to launch Zelda it try to "update" the console (even so it is already at 99.99.99E) and fail with error code 105-4206 i can still launch the game by ignoring the error yet the game almost immediately give me an error "you need to update your system in order to play this game press Ok to go back to home screen"...

EDIT : Some further explanation
My system is already in 5.5.2,
i had some failed apps-update(like youtube,amazon...) in my download-manager that i deleted (not fixed the problem)

Its not a system update its a game update so either use wii u usb helper to get the update and install it with wup installer gx2 or download NNU Patcher put it in sd:wiiu/apps run it and choose your game and it will update.

BotW mistakenly calls it a system update, even though it's just a game update.
There is no new system update beyond 5.5.2 so there's nothing to worry about, but it may be a good idea to delete the update folder on NAND so it won't be able to update to 5.5.3/5.6.0 when that comes out if somehow the DNS update blocking (which I assume you have) fails.

Follow these steps:
  1. Run NNU-Patcher from the Homebrew Launcher.
  2. Once back on the Home Menu, launch Breath of the Wild. It should update itself if you are connected to the internet.
If you don't have any game update installed, or if you have DLC installed that requires a certain game update, you will get the error you described. The above steps should fix your problem.

Or the simplest method (which only works if you are on the latest firmware 5.5.2)

1. Disable DNS blocking
2. Launch the game and update it
3. Re enable DNS blocking
4. ???

This will currently work, but this method is not recommended.
  • If someone follows this method but forgets to re-enable the proper DNS filters, then he or she might accidentally update to a newer system version if/when it's released.
    • There is a historical precedent of this occurring to people when v5.5.2 was released, so the use of NNU-Patcher should be advocated instead.
  • If someone follows this method after a new version has already been released, then he or she might accidentally update to the newer system version.
    • There is a historical precedent of this occurring to at least one person here after the release of v5.5.2.
  • Using NNU-Patcher is a good habit to get into, since it could become one's only option after the release of a newer system version.
  • Considering that your method involves having to delete and re-enter the proper DNS filters each time you want to use the eShop, it's a less simple process than merely running NNU-Patcher each time you want to run the eShop and/or update a game.
  • The less simple process also has more opportunities for error, potentially leading to one of the above scenarios.
TLDR, NNU-Patcher is recommended because it's simpler and safer.

The key is this phrase "If someone follows this method"

Very simple steps that only require you to "follow" steps. If someone were to follow this method to the T at the time of this post. There is no risk of update. I state in the post that the latest firmware is 5.5.2. If a user came across this post sometime down the road and they weren't on this firmware they would know the information was outdated (Or they could just glance at the post date).

To state, "If someone follows this post and forgets... yadda, yadda, yadda". Forgets what? To keep going to step 3 after 2? That's the same thing as saying, "If a user follows this method...but doesn't really follow this method..." then yeah, they'll screw up. See what I mean?

I gave specific instructions that apply right now, at the time if this post. If followed perfectly, no risk...right now.

I agree with you that people should know what NNU patcher is and how to use it. It doesn't make my suggestion any less relevant or valad.

please, there's no need to fight and become angry for such futile problems ;)
you both are helping users, that's great. put your energy in helping them, work together.

This isn't even the only time today someone responded to my good advice with a snide remark. "No good deed goes unpunished," I suppose. I'm used to it and usually respond in the most matter-of-fact way I can, if I respond at all.

Wow! Thin skinned much? Nobody is punishing you. I only clarified your criticism of my post. You gotta be able to take a little if you're gonna dish it out.

Thanks all problem solved :) I used the Kafluke solution and then put DNS back on.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Follow these steps:
  1. Run NNU-Patcher from the Homebrew Launcher.
  2. Once back on the Home Menu, launch Breath of the Wild. It should update itself if you are connected to the internet.
If you don't have any game update installed, or if you have DLC installed that requires a certain game update, you will get the error you described. The above steps should fix your problem.

Ps: I did tried your solution yet even with NNU-Patcher the upload always failed (with same error code and same result in-game) only deleting DNS worked for me...

a friend of mine has the same problem, NNU patcher is not working.
it still can't update the game and get error 105-4206 each time he tries to launch a game.
he said "the download queue's X appear right away every time I boot, there's no delay for it to come back" he said he tried everything (I doubt, as long as I don't do it myself I always assume others are not doing it correctly).

I'll suggest him to just delete the update folder and remove the dns.
maybe the DNS have been modified? or the EUR one is not blocking the same URLs than the L.A. DNS ?
I didn't suggest to swap the dns order.

Well i used another tutorial to install thing (Which i can't post link since it seem to be considered as spam)
With this DNS conf :
  • 168.235.092.108
  • 081.004.127.020

yeah, and it worked ?

168 is the USA (Los angeles)
81 is the Netherland (which town?)

if you have 168 first, maybe the issue is Netherland as I made him use the European DNS first for speed concern (or maybe the issue is my friend not understanding a thing)
