So we all know the 5.50 firmware is exploited in private and we were told not to go above 5.05. And this expliot has been tight liped as no info has slipped except that its been done. What im wondering is what is the wait for? I heard reasons like a possbile patch and ppl only care about piracy, but i still dont know what the wait is for. Yea they can choose to never let it out it because its their work, but they started it on w.e firnware and supported it up to 5.05. So im just wondering what happened to make them pause, im not demanding release just want to understand their side

The overwhelming majority of hackers aren't interested in burning exploits some people can get warez. Just get a PC, do your warez there and buy the two or three exclusives worth a crap.

Nobody knows why. Only the developer team know. Therefore.. We are not mind reader and they didn't say anything. They keep quiet for many months after 5.05 jailbreak released. No idea, really. We know nothing about it.

No, you are just guessing. They released 5.05 but not the latest. Reason ? Nobody knows. They will when they feel that its time. Right now, nobody knows.

Actually, thats not his question. SMH.

i feel their using it more to figure out a way to attack the security processor (SAMU) i however doubt they're just keeping it to tease us (some devs do but these guys are actually using the exploit to get something bigger) let me explain in lamens terms if Samu gets cracked and the exploit is released basicly the ps4's an open book and patching it is USELESS

It's been said numerous times that as long as the exploit has not been patched they will not release it so that it will continue to work on more firmwares, if they release it before it is patched it will almost for sure be patched in the next update, meaning one less way to mod it, and many more unhackable firmwares. For the longevity of the scene as a whole the more hacks, and more firmwares they work on the better, this is especially important as the system reaches the end of its life cycle, and fewer hackable systems are available.

Imagine if a new system was release and it only had one exploit, this exploit if not patched could be used on all firmwares of systems life cycle, but instead the hacker takes the glory of releasing it on the first firmware so it becomes patched, now instead of having an exploit that works on all system 10 years from now, it only works on the first firmware, and only a very few of them in the world exist.

Make sense?

I was thinking more of when 5.50 came out it gave a graphic boost? Im not sure about the above firmwares but sometimes the updates do improve the system

Not sure what you mean, they can patch an exploit along with adding a feature like a graphical boost in the same update, usually there is tons of bug fixes, features, and optimizations in the same update.

I mean back when god of war came out i had no idea the ps4 was exploitable and in order to get god of war i preordered, which required to update 5.50 and i think i remember in the firmware description that there was a graphic boost to use the full ps4 pro features. So im trying to say updates sometimes improve the counsle, if 5.50 really got that graphic boost for the pro why not utilize the new feature. While im waiting i got the xbox one x, and did some research on it. Turns out the hdmi port there is 2.1, which means it can support 8k which may come in a firmware update.

Afaik the exploit still works on 6.xx, so it won’t be published (or even made user friendly) as it’s still useful.

So no point staying on 5.5x then. Might as well update to 6.20 and play latest games if exploit is not patched on 6.20.

Just be patient, the longer they wait the more games will be supported by the hack. Might be another year, but there are so many games already out...

I'm considering updating tbh. It's been months and months without anything and my PS4 is just sitting there growing dust. I wanted to play Spiderman and Detroit Become Human and now there are several other games on the horizon. The exploit was good for the games up until 5.05, but I'd pretty much say the scene is dead.

I don't have PSVR as I just don't have the room for it where my PS4 is situated - one of the limitations of VR I guess.

As for Emulation... I've got so many consoles to use emulation on that unless it was something different e.g. PS3 then it's just another medium to play emulators on. If SnakePlissken's projects are similar to Doom, then they just won't interest me. The ONLY thing stopping me updating at present is having Persona 5 sitting on my hard drive. I kept all my original games as I suspected this might happen.

I changed your post title to be more clear by adding a question mark. Didn't want anyone thinking there was new information.

Many wait until it is completely patched before they release. If you don't release, it's harder for them to patch. If it's a chain of exploits, and only one gets fixed in an update, you may still not want to release it to preserve those bits of the chain not patched. Others in this thread have said it, but it doesn't hurt to say it again :P

With ps5 rumoured to come out in 2020 or so, I'm expecting exploit my ps4 pro then (wishful thinking on my part maybe). Just as I have my original ps3 to play all my ps3, ps2, and psx games. Though that's a long time to wait, and I'm pretty tempted myself to update.
