Thank you.:)
Unfortunately I can not re-produce the Issue "on Command".
(Yes I know, that is not he Answer a Developer wants to hear....)
Actual I have tried it a few Times in a Row

- Starting Game
- Game freezes with Black Screen
- Power Off with the Wii Power Button until the Red Led appears
- Power On with the Wii Motion Controller
- Wii Boot into USBLoader GX
- Starting Game
- Game Freezes......

Actual no Issue.....

I hope this is all ok and correct and helps you.
Thank you.:)

thanks for all the info. i had hoped to see the bootstate when it booted SM instead of the installed file in your log. it could be that its set to return to, or something odd at that point. for example if bootstate is 255 and the flag is 130 it will boot System menu ( shutdown from MIOS).
so the log of when it booted SM would be great, so ye too bad you can't reproduce it.

Is there any technical reason why Priiloader couldn't autoboot non system installed channels?
there is no technical reason why you can't. its perfectly possible if it was programmed that way.
i can see the advantages of that,if youre using channels of some sort, but haven't bothered with it as a regular forwarder that boots the dol from sd works fine in most cases and i don't believe most people have channels that don't start content from SD or usb...
i might be wrong though :)

USBloaderGX could be started from the forwarder dol, as long as it uses cIOS249 as default.
with the usbloader using 58 + ahb access, it didn't work with priiloader 0.8 so we used the channel forwarder method instead, which provided ahb access to the loader. it would have been useful then, but only for specific setup.

Now that it's reported working (I didn't try myself) with 0.9 the dol forwarder method will be enough.
So it's not needed anymore as a workaround to launch some homebrew (and we still can make channel booter like we did until now), but I think it could still be a nice feature to get channel list&launch, for example easily auto launch a Wiiware at boot? (no idea if many people will find that useful)
Up to you to decide.

Thanks for the answer.

Thank you for your Answer,I would try to "reproduce" it with "heavy Testing" - freeze Game(s) and Re-boot the Wii.i think one Day the Issue will appear again.:D

Thank you for your Help.:)

whoa im a bit confused.
correct me if im wrong here but if i understand correctly usbloadergx , loaded through a forwarder which is loaded by priiloader 0.8 , did not work unless the forwarder loaded it using cios249?
that makes no sense to me since both priiloader 0.8 & 0.9 load binaries with IOS58 (if available) + AHB access.
so on my end nothing changed, so why would it work now ?
why is usbloadergx so picky about the ios it was loaded with?

not the forwarder dol, but the usbloader itself.

The problem started when most new HDD required IOS 58 to initialize, as all cios d2x don't recognize new drives and have issues initializing them. It's not a problem with usbloadergx, but all homebrew.
The solution is to use IOS58 instead, which seems to have the required module for new drives.
USBLoaderGX now has the option to use either 249 or 58.

it if relies on IOS 58 (instead of cIOS with patched access rights), then it can't initialize the NAND access without AHB provided by the launcher (as usbgx doesn't have ios patch code).

as priiloader 0.8 didn't provide AHB access to the launched dol, we had to use the channel which provides ahb through the tmd flag patch.

the forwarder.dol and the usbloader.dol (not the channel) worked fine as long as the usbloader reloaded to cIOS first in its boot sequence. if not, it didn't work and couldn't initialize nand.

Like I said, I didn't test it myself, it's only the report I've read above, maybe the user just used d2x 249 instead of 58? maybe your new loader keeps/provides all hardware accesses to the launched app, while it didn't before?

I can see at least 4 solutions, I just went with the easiest : get AHB from the channel's tmd. Priiloader with channel launching feature would be an easier solution too, but I understand priiloader shouldn't be the solution for other's problem.

Other method would require multiple ios reloading only for users with with that issue (starting with d2x, then reload to 58 with kept rights to initialize the drive, switch back to d2x to continue loading nand). I didn't do that to keep launch sequence fast, but feel like I'll finally do that.

Updating d2x ehci module would be a solution, but nobody is working on ios anymore?

Or even use a vulnerability, but I don't have the knowledge to do something like hackmii installer, or priiloader? I guess it would be possible to use priiloader sources to patch the rights directly in usbloader without relying on AHB?

@alexander1970 : from your logs i can say few things, but youre not going to like it.

first log :
- system powered on 3 times with wiiconnect24 on, which booted the autoboot
- a return to system menu was called with discstate 2 (this is probably what caused the system menu to show?). i also see its having issues with the hacks. it doesn't matter for the problem, but where did you get the hacks file?
- then i see a shutdown followed by a power on

second log :
same as first log, except i see 2 shutdowns? one which was interrupted and another regular one (power was held down?)

from those logs i believe priiloader did what it was meant to do. i have no idea why the return to state was set, but that is not my concern. if anything i believe usbloader or the game crashed trying to reboot the system.
you can verify by booting system menu, pressing home and selecting wii menu. after it rebooted look at the log again and compare it to the bootstate 3 lines in the log posted here.

as priiloader 0.8 didn't provide AHB access to the launched dol
yes it did. 0.8 introduced arguments and ahbprot...
...it says ' ahbprot available' when listing the binaries for a reason...

I guess it would be possible to use priiloader sources to patch the rights directly in usbloader without relying on AHB?
worst case you can use existing exploits to get those rights. they are out there.

Thank you.:)

No matter if I like it,you are the Developer and what you say is to accept.:)

The Wii is used for Test Purpose mainly and has already experienced a lot..
The Hacks File...honestly I did not remember,it is from 02.02.2020....

Should I better replace it with this (from 2012)

Thank you.:)

No matter if I like it,you are the Developer and what you say is to accept.:)

The Wii is used for Test Purpose mainly and has already experienced a lot..
The Hacks File...honestly I did not remember,it is from 02.02.2020....

Should I better replace it with this (from 2012)

Again, thank you for your Explanation and Help.:)
the old hacks file is fine if it works, but im just wondering "9:3:51 : line : patch=0x3B200001,0x3B0000F90x387" is coming from. it just looks like an invalid line and could either be a bug or issue.

btw, is the game that crashes known for crashing?

No,that are all "Shovelware" Games like Horse Games/Chuck Cheese and this kind. All NTSC Versions on the PAL Wii.
The Freezes/Crashes happens because of not correct cIOS or InGame Settings on the first Start in USBLoader GX or sometimes Configurable USBLoader.

Thank you.:)

I know 0.8 changelog says it has ahb access for all dols, but lot of people reported it not working hence why we had to use that workaround, maybe they were still on 0.7 since 2011 (pretty sure I tried 0.8 and it didn't work). I suppose now it works with 0.9 based on the report above.
or maybe somethings is wrong with the usbloader's forwarder not keeping ahb access properly but it works when that dol is installed as a channel.
so if you are sure 0.8 works fine with ahb passed to the dol, then I'm not sure where the problem was. as long as it works now everything's good :)

there are a few things that could have been wrong causing usbloader to not get ahbprot :
* the forwarder reloaded ios
* the forwarder isn't correctly on the SD, missing the arguments xml or lacks <no_ios_reload/> when installed (i suspect this is it)
* there was a bug in Priiloader i was never been made aware off.

im going to rant here for a second
but how the hell have people known of the issue yet nobody bothered to actually fing investigate or figure out how things work? no, instead they use some stupid work around that makes no sense.
its not rocket science...

but anyway, i compared the current priiloader source with 0.8 and currently 0.9 has a bug loading all homebrew with ahb which ill fix (and test) later on.

0.8 loaded the homebrew as it should be : with ahb IF it had the no_ios_reload argument.

EDIT : if you want to test this on 0.8 , here is a test dol to load. just place the folder in the apps folder and test it in HBC and priiloader. http://upload.dacotaco.com/Argumenttester.zip
it'll say "AHB Access Enabled" if it was run with AHB access
tbh, im curious to the result

answer to spoiler:
I don't know about others, but you are right, and I was thinking the same today : if there were really a bug, that's too bad nobody reported it to you directly. as for me I never tried to contact you because I wrongly thought you weren't working on it anymore. a lot of wii developers left or moved to other consoles.
I also remember we weren't in good terms years ago and feared to make contact. Now we are all good (I hope you are, as I am). I think everything should be for the better and we all should work together to the same goal.

Thanks for the argument tester. I don't have my wii with priiloader around tonight, maybe someone can do the test? (if not, I'll try this weekend)
aren't the no_ios_reload argument in the meta.xml for hbc only?
maybe we always did things wrong, but the dol installed in priiloader autoboot menu doesn't have the meta.xml installed with it, does it? now that I re-read the 0.8 changelog, it makes sense that it has to read the arguments from somewhere. I wrongly assumed the AHB would always be provided unlike with hbc where it's an option. so if it installs and parse the meta just like hbc, then it's our (me and usbgx devs before me) fault all long for years, we provided only the forwarder dol without the meta thinking AHB was implied.

am i actively working on priiloader? no, cause if i don't get feedback on features and bugs, i assume the program works perfectly. and yes,i am not in good terms with this site and the only reason im here is to get the ball rolling on things. but ive always (tried) to state that i was always available to talk about features and bugs granted you can support why something should be implemented and not just ask for a random thing to be implemented..

no, the no ios reload is not for hbc only. i added the meta.xml parsing to priiloader in 0.8. since priiloader 0.8 it passes all parameters to the binary and uses the no ios reload too.
it even saves the arguments in the meta.xml to the nand when you install the binary (to main.nfo)

maybe i worded it poorly too, since grouped ahbprot with the ios'
but ye, forwarder without meta.xml will result in no ahb access

So, the problem has always been on user's side and it's my fault for not learning how priiloader worked with installed dol. Nobody corrected me or suggested that solution, maybe a lot of users still don't know either.
I'll change the usbloader's package on next release to comply, if there's a problem I'll come back to you.

Thank you for confirming, and for your time to answer all my messages.

This Time I have also used Configurable USBLoader for Game Testing.
I have noticed that this Behavior with Booting direct into Wii Menu happens more on this Loader.

I am very sorry to can not give your more "negative" Feedback on the 0.9 beta v3.
But I have no Issues with it,it works perfect on my Wii.:)
Excuse me to disappoint you.

Thank you for your Support and your Help.:)

that log proves my point tbh that the issue is not in priiloader, but in the game or the usbloader itself.
the return to flag is set, which means the wii is in a reboot into system menu state somehow.

what i do wonder is why there are so many reboots after each other in that log?

Thank you, that is very goo to hear it is not the Priiloader.:)

Maybe because

- Game Black Screen
- Turn the Wii off by holding Wii´s Power Button
- Power on with Wii Motion Controller

It is everytime the same Procedure after a Game "crashes".

Please do not get to harsh on me,I am not a Developer or a Coder or Programmer.:(
I will try Things out and learn of it to understand how Things work, not more.

Thank you for your Understanding and your Patience.:)

i did not meant to be harsh (for once)
i just did some testing and checking in dolphin , and noticed that games tend to write to the states file ( /title/00000001/00000002/data/state.dat ) on the filesystem on startup meaning the game probably set the reboot flag.

what game are you testing this with?
