These are probably some simple (or really dumb/noob questions), but I've spent quite a few hours in the last couple of days trying to find some answers and didn't find any. If some could enlighten me, I'd be greateful:
1. What's the difference between Normal mode, Apploader and neek2o? (I think normal mode is somewhat like the old Triiforce and neek2o boots an emulated nand after copying a game there, but I'm not really sure and I don't have a clue about apploader...)
2. I managed to make neek2o mode work after installing neek2obooter.app in a nand replacing the system menu app. However, something about its behaviour seems strange: I already had the game in the nand (using showmiiwads) and postloader seemed to copy the game to the nand again. Why is that? Is this an expected behaviour?
Thanks for your help. Postloader is becoming a really refined launcher but it seems that half of its documentation is spread through all the changelog... :)

To be honest normal mode is less normal then apploader :lol:. Normal mode load directly the main dol. But every channels has an apploader, that in turn will load the main dol. This method is (should be) the one used by system menu, may be more compatible but codes will not work.

neek2o uses neek to boot the channel. This will give you the best compatibility. But it is not so pratical and is the slowest way to start a channel.

This seems a bug. A channel should be copied only once. I will check, but before, I need to complete arguments support for plugins ;)

Yes, this is sadly true :ninja:

Thanks for your answers!
The channel I mentioned is stored in both of my two USB nands. It seemed to me that postLoader copied the channel from one usb nand to another (or to the same, I'm not sure) before running it. Is this really needed or is this the possible bug you mention?
Is the neek2o mode supposed to be used for the purpose of running channels inside neek after copying them from an USB nand or from a real nand?

Basically neek2o way will use always the nand "usb://Nands/pln2o" to run channels. So if your game is in another virtual nand it will be copied. Actually this approach is a little obsolete, but was designed in this way to be compatible with old triiforce dedicated nand (that may not be directly bootable by neek2o).

Now I get it! The only inconsistency I find is that I do not have a emunand in a folder called pln2o nor a nand on the usb root. Does postLoader default to usb://Nands/nand if pln2o is not found? (The channel I tried did boot correctly.)
Assuming the emunand is bootable, is it possible to use some variation of the neek2o method to boot an emunand straight to the desired (preinstalled) channel using neek2obooter and without showing the system menu?
(Please feel free to ask me to stop asking these questions if you find them annoying!... :))

I think that if you make a working usb://Nands/pln2o nand and install there your wads, postloader will execute straight the selected channel without coping anything. But I never tested this ;)

(Please feel free to ask me to stop asking these questions if you find them annoying!... :))

Don't worry, it's a pleasure for me, also because sometime I forget how exactly things works in postloader :lol:

Hi stfour, haven't had time for much testing lately I apologize for bringing this up now. Whenever I start PL 4.2.2 with config (ploader folder) on SD I get this code dump
postLoader422dumpSDinserted_zps21af863d.jpg
However when I start it with config file/folder on USB it runs. It did dump once or twice on me when I went to look in the apps of the only subfolder on USB but then I was able to view the apps and everything performed as it should, I should've attempted to launch an app in the subfolder but I didn't, I went straight to troubleshooting the SD card which has about 3 subfolders with many apps. I don't know if that's causing the problem. Here is a ploader.log for reference, hope it helps.

longdesc: Ocarina is an application allowing you to use cheat codes on your Nintendo Wii.

Bundled in the download pack you'll find a PC client (wii Cheat Code Manager) which allows you to select cheat codes and store the cheat lists on your SD card. Ocarina will try to read these files and apply the cheats to the game.

For instructions on the PC application, please refer to its readme file!

On a side note: Ocarina should also be able to boot imports! Please note that you'll need an NTSC capable TV screen to play NTSC games on PAL Wiis and vice versa! RGB cables are not properly supported if you play imports!

Thanks stfour, cool update

just a Q:
# <unique_id>=<description>|<plugin_name.dol>|<sourcefolder{rompath}>|<ext1>,<ext2>,...,<extN>|<defaulticon.png>|<arguments>
000=SNESGX|snes9xgx.dol|/snes9xgx/roms|smc,fig,sfc,swc,zip,7z|snes.png|{device}:/{path}/;{name};{loader};{titlelow};{titlehi};{loadername}

looking at the conf file it seems custom dol path is not yet available, the bolded part is for the rompath right?
