If you see a new friend is on, then choose quit after a 4 round game and then re-pick friends. That way the next person can jump in instead of just restarting a match with the same guy.

Woah! I found a bug! My camera angle suddenly went down! I couldn't see! That was so weird. I quickly grabbed my camera to take a video of it. Basically I got hit by a blue shell and my camera was looking down on my driver. I had no idea where I was driving. Haha. That was so bizzare. Needless to say I lost that race.
