Idea: SafeSysUpdater with downgrade checker and a automatic NAND backup and restore procedure. Basically it will make a backup of your NAND, downgrade, check if the DG was completed, then if it did, let you reboot. If not, it will prompt you if you want to restore from backup. This would reduce the chance of bricks, in my mind.
SafeSysUpdater is notorious for softbricks

Again, this is offtopic. You all have a post for the downgrade with this hax... Some of us are w8ing for updates in New...

For NAND dump you need arm9 kernel exploit, don;t you? If that's the case, we don't need to downgrade at all!?

Didn't work. Got the same "An error has occurred" message on boot after downgrade as when I tried on 10.3 way back. Oh well. If someone could find out what causes that error I would greatly appreciate it!

I was the same with the previous SysUpdater (I tried 5 or 6 times and always the same) and now I have even more afraid of losing access to HBL. I would also appreciate information before touching anything.

Obviously you don't because it's asking for the 3ds header file, which should come with DevkitPRO. What operating system are you using?
Had the same problem myself
After a while of useless troubleshooting (because I was sure everything was setup correctly) I said "fuck it" and started compiling using bare metal arm tools
