Point taken Trolly, at least this guy is giving it a go. Even if he fails to port PSX to Wii, at least he tried![]()
If anyone wants to "donate" head over to the forum ; D
Jm9760 said:No, he has made psx, gba, gb, snes, and other emulators for the iphone, as well as some for Gp2x. He really does know what he is doing.

uhm, no. a modchip can't magically add an extra laser to read cds.
the wii uses a dvd laser ONLY.

theclaw said:In that case, someone should write an audio CD program. Wii is one of the very few disc-based consoles in history to not include software for it. PSP being another, obviously.

Actually, the lens is sensitive to 650nm, while CDs are 780nm.
Thus, all DVD drives can read CDs. It's just a matter of software support. If the firmware doesn't support it, software can be written to support it.
Though, the more logical step would be to enable the emulator to read ISOs and load 8 games on one DVD.
How about those are the wavelengths of light the laser uses?
QUOTE
The earliest DVD drives could not read CD-R and CD-RW discs because of the difference in the light wavelength used for reading the discs. Regular CD-ROM drives use a wavelength of 780 nanometers (nm) to read discs, the same wavelength required by CD-R and CD-RW discs. DVD uses a wavelength of 650 nm. Regular mass-produced CD-ROMs are very reflective and can be read at a variety of wavelengths, so the 650 nm is not a problem for them. However, CD-R and CD-RW discs are not as powerfully reflective at other wavelengths, and a 650 nm laser has trouble reading them.

The information in your threads is slightly better than SamSam12, but you're posting as many threads as he used to.
Also, this should go in the General section, not the Hacking section.
