Gaming Portal + wierd 360 controller

Ive just got portal for my Pc cus i dont want to have to play hl2:e2. But i still want to play it with a 360 pad, luckly i bought one a while back for halo 2 on Pc. The problem is that for some reason it reconises all the controls ecept for the up and down on the the right analog stick, which is the look up and down. If anyone eles ahs this problem and has fixed it could you please help, or if anyone has any sugesstions then could you also help.
