Wow this is some really good marketing, nearly made me buy the potato sack... shame i'm not allowed, looks like i'll have to wait longer than everyone else to play Portal 2 just because i didn't spend my entire bank account on games i won't/not allowed to play.

according to my friend, all of the games in that pack have been invaded by glados, he didnt say much more though

Basically, play those potato pack games and the bars fill up, once full (once one is full or all are full) portal 2 should be unlocked on steam.
Sorry Valve, I ain't gonna pay for a potato pack that equates to the same as portal 2 just to play early.
However if anyone has any of the potato pack games (especially super meat boy) PLEASE PLAY THEM NOW.

(unless i am being idiotic and this is not what it means at all.)

Clever marketing if your customers have bags o' cash.

I can see me playing portal 2 tonight but I ain't getting my hopes up.

The wonderful end of the world is closer to completion (still a long way off though)

I hate Valve so much.
I mean, I was considering buying the Potato sack before all this.
Just didn't have the funds for it.
But now I do.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You guys do realise those bars don't matter?
There's a bar at the top that fills up the more people play the games (its at 2 bars just now)

It could be a scaled graph. I would suspect that The End of the Wonderful World might have less people who have bought it, so the # of cpu cycles that it generates scales higher, than say SMB which many people have bought so you need more cpu cycles to get it to go higher on a relative scale. despite having more actual CPUs allocated.

Course this assumes that those scales even MEAN anything!

I doubt I'll buy the Potato sack pack. I have about 30% of the games. Though I admit Cogs looks really really interesting....

Also is Bit.trip.beat supposed to be this hard?!!? I thought I was pretty good at these rythm games but that one is just killing me even on easy.

I tthnk it more likely that the bars fill at whatever speed valve wants them to fill, regardless of how many people are playing.

I figure best case we'll get a midnight PST release for Portal2 on Steam on Monday even with all the 'cpu' cycles going. I doubt Steam will break the 'street date' of the product. So moving from a 7am PST release to a midnight PST release would still be the same 'day' but still give you a sense that the ARG is worth while.

I hope there are still some interesting ARG bits to be found though. Should be an interesting weekend.

If they are accurate bars then i agree with this.

Well, I shelled out the cash for Bit.Trip
(mostly because I feel bad for pirating every single game they've ever come out with for the Wii)
And I've decided I'll buy one more.
What game should that be?

Do you mean from the Potato pack or just in general?
From the pack:
SMB is a great buy, assuming you like incredibly hard 2d platforming.
Amnesia is the scariest damn game! Play with the lights out and its more terrifying than any movie

Other stuff
TF2 - Hell been playing that for so long...
Anaomaly Warzon Earth - a reverse tower defense game. Intersting concept
The Humble Bundle - http://www.humblebundle.com/ Pay what you want. Trine is great. And you can activate the games on Steam.

What's all this about potato packs and ARG?

AFAIK - 'Potato pack' is a group of Indie Games that (some) have had additional content added that is based on the new Portal 2 game (like extra tunes/graphics etc)

Not to sure about the 'ARG' bit though - might have something to do with the 'bars' filling up & once filled - then 'Portal 2' is unlocked
