Actually you can fake actual streetpasses with a wireless network adapter. We just don't have the right packets to send at the moment.

Im actually happy that Nintendo is putting some effort in making this game more secure!
People play fair and that is how it should be. :) I hope that the pokebank is really good at detecting hacked pokemon too!
For the first time ever we have had a pokemon game without any cheaters for a while ^^ I love it!

I'm really hoping they found a way to check for hacked pokemon, but a perfectly generated pokemon in gen 5 is impossible to tell apart from a legitimate one.

If Pokemon are caught in an offline mode of any sort I dont see how hacked pokemon will be stopped. For example Smealums hacked pokemon would most likely still work with the 1.2 system

Nintendo has gotten so beast with their systems atm I'm actually astonished and impressed. they really don't let piracy touch them atm.

its more like they dont let piracy touch the Online features

which is good, people can mess with there own stuff, long as it doesnt affect my online gameplay im good

What is this smealums thing? I have not heard of it until now
Smealum is a guy who is also busy with hacking the 3DS. He has managed to create a concept for a custom firmware (unreleased) and has managed to change RAM values so that he could make different Pokémon appear then there should. This way, he revealed that there were a few extra Pokémon in the game data.

Welp, after updating the game I can no longer use the online features. It says there was an issue connecting to the access point, which is downright false since I just downloaded the update from the eShop.

I'm just wondering how it is considered piracy when all of us had to buy Pokemon X or Y in order to play?

It's not considered piracy, it's cheating, which gives an unfair advantage.

Perhaps I am not informed so please shed some insight if I am wrong. So while this update blocks cheaters, it just so happens to also disables online play for those using emuNAND?

I do not intend to cheat at all.
