I'm currently playing a backup of Pokemon White Eur on a SuperCard 2 but the game can't connect to my wifi.

I'm using a DSi. The Opera browser on the DSi works fine so I'm sure my DSi can connect to the router with WPA encryption.

Can Pokemon White connect to routers with WPA Encryption?

TY for reading

I believe it can, yes, but DS2 runs games in DS mode.

Which means that it doesn't have access to the extra hardware required to decrypt WPA encryption.

Your comment helped me stick with my decision to buy the retail game. If the retail game couldn't connect to my wifi then I wouldn't have pre-ordered it.

Monkat doesn't know what she is talking about. All DS games work only using WEP. It doesn't matter that your DSi is using the built-in DSi browser.

Edit: Even if you use the retail cart in your DSi, you will still need to use WEP mode.

Edit 2:
While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/wrWEPkeyHelp.jsp)

Playing multiplayer over the Nintendo WFC is only compatible with the WEP security setting, even when playing with a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL. WPA and other security settings are not compatible.(http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/wrInitialSetupHelp.jsp#security_not_supported)

And finally: Since the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, can I play Nintendo DS games online using WPA?
Nintendo DS Game Cards are only compatible with WEP security, and are not compatible with WPA security. So while you can browse the DSi Shop or enjoy other online features of the Nintendo DSi with WPA security, you cannot play Nintendo DS games online with any system if your network is secured with WPA. (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds-security.jsp)

Wrong

DSi games do support WPA.

Masked Ranger doesn't know what he's talking about. Pokemon White is a DSi-enhanced game meaning it would be able to connect to a WPA connection if run in DSi-Mode.

monkat is correct.

Edit: ninja'd

From the link in my sig:

Are there plans for Nintendo DSi games that are compatible with WPA security?
There are no Nintendo DSi games with online play that have been announced.

So what?

You just said that, at the time that interview was held, no online games had been announced.

That has since changed.

Cool it guys.
The ROM's DSI related features are not part of the dump since only Bahamut can do it, yes?
That could mean that the WPA access part could be inaccessible as well... at least for the ROM dump.

Anyway. Just test an inform so that we can finally find out.

Re: Pokemon Black/ White and WPA
As you know, Nintendo DS games are compatible with WEP or no wireless encryption. Nintendo DS games are not compatible with WPA security. Should you have the ability to change the router settings, there are other options to secure your network as well. A few of them can be found here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds-security.jsp MAC filtering and hidden SSID can be done whether you use WEP or not.

Are you referring to the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector? If so, you may want to look here for suggestions as to where you may be able to find one. Unfortunately, there is no other way to connect the DS Lite to your computer for Internet access. There is no wired option.

At this time, there are no Nintendo DSi games that are compatible with WPA security. For more information specific to the games, you can visit:

1. He did not say that it is not compatible, whereas I have a witness that claims that his does work.

2. You're quoting a tech support guy two months before the release date. He's not going to give you anything except for pre-written messages.
