I don't understand why people are having such a hard time grasping this concept. I would love the idea of a persistent trainer ID. Definitely would make it a much more personal fit. I'm surprised they haven't dones osmething like this already.

what people want is like open world 3d pokemon games and even gamefreak said to not expect too much lol, now that with the switch they can actualy do full3d pokemon world and battles without lagging going back to sprites to not do anything like that would make gamefreak seem imcomptent and cowardly imo.

i would be happy with a pokemon game as long as the graphics are near colosseum and XD levels but people want even more.

    Thank you.

Similar in regards to marketting strategy and release of games, not concept of game.

Anyway, I'm happy to just wait 1-2 years and quote your post on how wrong you are and how Nintendo decided to do separate releases with piss-poor DLC.

    See you then. :)

Don't get me wrong. I would MUCH so prefer for there to be one pokemon game then DLC added on. It would be better value, better means to pump time into the game etc. However, its just not going to happen. Separate releases and games will always be more lucrative for a franchise such as Pokemon. Its a PROVEN model for the franchise. Why would Nintendo or Gamefreak change much with one of their biggest and easiest money makers?

I think you've misunderstood me. I'm not arguing *for* this. In fact, I don't think it'll happen at all. If you read the entire thread, this started with the possibility and how we would change it. I'm quite sure Gamefreak and Ninty will go their usual route. No doubt.

    Ah fair enough.

I think Nintendo's current model is still the most lucrative TBH.

From my own personal experience, I grow tired of Pokemon after a while but the hype of a new game would probably draw me to double and triple dipping. Trying to make a game like Pokemon into WOW is incredibly difficult given the lack of difficulty, the lack of longevity in the single player campaign and the lack of complexity. DLC isn't as effective for Nintendo... and I think BOTW and XC2 attachment rates for the DLC will also further prove this [although I don't have any numbers at hand]/

i didnt buy any of botw dlc myself and i own it on switch, i just didnt think it was worthy it tbh, i did buy smash(characters only screw the mii armor cosmetics srs...) and mk8 dlc packs, i mean mk8 was like 12 euros for 50% more game on botw it just didnt seem worthy imo.

Because, quit frankly, the fandom has just gotten to much for me to give two shits about them. It's like G1 in Transformers and MMPR in Power Rangers. "JUST GIVE IT A FUCKING REST ALREADY!"

The fandom is easily ignored. And being the first 3D entries into either of these regions means a clean slate, the ability to design it basically however you please. Just throw in little references to the original games along the way and bam, instant classic. Perhaps your character could run into and be rivals with both Red and Blue.

We haven't seen it.. We also haven' seen Shinnoh for example and yes there are some who want Diamond and Pearl.. but it's the fucking "KANTO AND JHOTO!" group that has just... made me say fuck it. Hell.. Again.. The ONLY pokemon to get Alolan forms were Kanto pokemon. The main character came from Kanto. Lilly went back to Kanto.

It's like.. Give it a fucking rest. They could at least have had the MC be from Orre or something.

That would be fine... IF that isn't what we get almost every game now.

If I'm reading this correctly then you're just unhappy that a lot of story elements tie back to Kanto. Nothing much to be done for that, it's the root of the entire series arc in both anime and the games. Most people are more concerned about the gameplay aspect of the region, and they're free to design that without constraints on Switch.

Dude.. Lets be honest. If they redid Kanto and Jhoto... And it wasn't 100 percent accurate to what they -THINK- it's supopsed to be.. they'd whine and bitch and moan and talk about how gamefreak can't do anything right.. And seriously.. We've been to Kanto three times, Jhoto twice. JUST MOVE ON ALREADY and stop making it as some sort of Holey grail.

Again.. There is NO reason they couldn't have mentioned... well.. any other region for the MC to come from. His being from Kanto had NO story reason. He didn't recognize Red and Blue, he didn't think Oak looked like Oak. His being from Kanto added NOTHING. So why not make it Orre, Kalos? Shinnoh... Anywhere else other than Kanto?

Ya'll thinking like your making games for yourself, like you're the main demographic. You've got to keep in mind that the main focus will be 10 year olds and that range, with things like metagame and whatnot allowing for older demographics to enjoy and engage. Whatever system they come up with will have to be fairly simple and straightforward on the surface, with competitive play allowed for within the system made.

As mario and zelda did well with a more open world experience, and sold gangbusters, I'd say they go in that direction....but really it depends on when they decided on the direction of development. How long has this been development for? What does being on the switch allow them to do that a 3ds does not? That will offer some clues.

IDK man the story is made for kids and I hated the ridiculous amount of forced exposition and in-game cutscenes in Sun/Moon. I prefer it when I can mostly ignore the story and just play the game. At least Red/Blue had some more "adult" storylines dealing with death and fear and the like.
