They fixed the AP on the Korean version. The Korean version has the same AP as the US version.


Apparently injected11 was referring to it being fixed for the Acekard version which we already knew... I suppose he implied it by quoting the other two, but he clarified that he meant it was fixed with a firmware update for AKAIO firmware update.

But from my understanding, it's not fixed on the AK. The occurrence of the issue is reduced, but not eliminated. Am I wrong in that belief?


Despite what you hear the occasional Acekard user complaining about, it's about 99% fixed. There's the occasional crash, someone mentioned they experienced two black screens from the beginning of the game to the Elite 4, but it's nowhere near the 22, or 3 event limit that the rest of us run into. The same poster also mentioned one of the crashes was likely due to his card shifting in his pocket since he didn't crash in the middle of an event. I'd be damn happy if I could cruise through the game with 1-2 crashes.

Also, to all the current posts going on, I've been following these posts all day long. If you want to see where people got somewhat productive, check out some of the posts in the page 100-120 range. The problem might lie in an overload in a section where the system should be reading in 16 bits, but only reads in 8 bits and therefore can't load the image. That's the most interesting piece of speculation I've seen in the last 12+ hours.

Baldy have you done a en side by jp side comparison of the arm7 and arm9 files i cant really think of anything else tonight if you havent i can take a crack at it but its gonna be the last thing i do for the night

Obviously translation does increase the size due to the string lengths being larger.

i've searched all ova korean websites, and no1 seems to have found a hack for HGSS
i'm gonna search around on japanese websites and see if i have any luck... hope i fish out something ...

From what I can tell, the Japanese AP was never fully cracked anyway, there were freezes occuring every now and then, but never as bad as they are on the US versions. Korean seems to employ a similar form of AP to the Japanese release, again I don't believe this was ever fixed either. I have no idea how the French version works, but it's reasonable to assume that the (E) multi5 (or atleast English) release later this month with probably have the same form of protection, so I suppose if the US version is not cracked within a week or so (highly unlikely) it would be beneficial to move onto the French release.

More rumors going around now. There isn't a "fix" for the Korean version as someone claimed. There was a firmware update for Acekard that makes the Korean and US version work. People who have the card are about 99% black screen free, even for the US version (crashes a handful of times throughout the game).

well its 8:30 AM in the uk, i havent slept in 24 hours (FFXIII and this) I'm calling it quits till about 1 PM, maybe the trolling will have died down by then.

hope the Anti-AP squad pulls through soon, Crystal was my favourite of the games.

1 event = going in/out of building...
so going in then coming out of a building = 2 events

or something similar

Japanese to english is not 1:1.

there are more characters added in the english version.

even the new game naming screen can point out this fact.

An event is through a blackscreen. Leaving menus, doors, stairs, battles, etc.

OMG on Artix's freeze every 2 events save it goes....just as i type it freezes after 10 events
(with overlay16 from fixedJP)
