I don't think Nintendo has, but I think Gamefreak definitely has.
Wouldn't surprise me if jurassic was right.

With the real pictures now in my mind, I am definitely believing that Nintendo has given up the original idea of pokemon and made mutant animals...I can no longer understand their design at all.
