ROM Hack Pokemon Emerald Epsilon hack freezes after meeting wally?

When you talk to Dad in the first gym, a movie starts where he sends you off with Wally and the game freezes as soon as you follow wally out of town.

I used the same original Emerald ROM as the developer according to the md5sum at romhacking.net:

And then patched the game with ezgba-gui to play it on EZ Flash IV:

• Patch Save type to SRAM
• EZ4 Header Patch
• Correct complement checksum

I'm using the "flat" skin 1.77 firmware from GBATemp.

(I also tested in mGBA (using the same SAV file and patched ROM) and it froze in exactly the same place.)

I wanted to try out this romhack on EZ Flash IV because it seems to say there is some sort of fake time clock (FTC):

"System clock automatically walk with 5 changes."

Does that mean time advances through 5 times of day (morn, afternoon,evening, night, ??) based on steps taken? And that berries grow?

That's just broken english, same thing as "the patch walks" from back in the days. They haven't implemented the rtc fix.

I applied to the original Emerald USA:

• clockfix
• added clocks in pokecenters
  
• the default EZGBA-gui patches

I tested with an old save I have of Emerald and it seems OK. Clocks appear in pokecenters as a little GBA stuck on the wall and no funny warnings at the beginning of the game.

Might as well use that one instead, it was linked in the post I linked, but I missed it because I was going through the post a bit too quickly otherwise I'd have linked that one directly. It seems like a bit better than the other one though.
