Ah, Crimsonagent! haven't heard from you in a while, I'm glad you went through with your hack idea
Oh, so it's called "Pokemon Crimson Courage"...? I'll have to say, very catchy name
Maybe when I'm finished Clear crystal, I'll help you in your project uh.....but after Clear Crystal finishes, I'm gonna stop hacking for a year (Hacking makes me hack-sick lol) so maybe after that....but I doubt your hack wouldn't be finished a whole year later
Um....by the way agent, I think you should morph your second post with the one before it, GBAtemp don't like it when you double post I'm just telling you so a mod doesn't tell you it, I bet getting it from a mod would be more harsh and the quicker you do it, the less chances a mod runs in and deletes the second post =/
@Strife - Since you are using the name Clear Crystal I'm assuming you got the ok from the guy you emailed about the name?
@Crimson - Hitting a wall or going through a rough patch is someone we all go through, I myself at this moment have been working on jump mechanics and a gravity engine for a month or so now with very little progress. And yeah you should merge your posts, never double post if you have to make another post just edit your first one.
....And I still have absolutely no idea what to do with the bottom screen, I just wanna delete that annoying swimming Lugia and replace it with the title screen Ice made... But, No matter what, It CAN'T be Impossible. If it was impossible, then they wouldn't be able to put Lugia swimming there in the first place.
What I think is that the video file is hidden in the "a" folder somewhere...I gotta find it somewhere...
hm don't trying hard on opening screen XD, top screen or i can called it pokemon logo are on ncgr, nclr, nscr for now was editable, ncer, ec. but for now 3d object or video is not editable . i will explain something, ice gif image are 1 file containing with many think mixed into one file, is not same as on DS, is have seperate file format is can combined or not, like spa file is a sprite image are containing some sprite and pallete into one file and is called spa file (you can found on pokemon game too, is used effect on battle, pokeball, and seal). and many file for 1 ncgr is like ncgr+nclr+ncer/nscr+nanr+nmar+nmcr on game will 1 sprite or animated sprite. is same as on 3d models too... like wb format sometimes is include texture and pallete file but sometimes need btx, nclr, nsmb, is same as nsmb, is can containing btx or texture stored in another file is called nsbtx (or btx) and another file bta0 bca0 and ect is for animated on nsbm models.
nsbmd is a model, is not final form of models, is need to contruction into become a final models, so is need a file to placing, moving that models, also texture is need for model, since models is just line vertex only so is not good, on ds have limit on ram usage so is cannot create complex models.
for now i don't know someone was hack or can convert some video on pokemon games.
opening is not containing video, is just sprite, 3d models was playing on top bottom screen. in my theory you can't insert ice sprite into bottom screen (sometimes will moved into top).
Your evil laugh is rather ominous, mr andibad
But is there a way to just take out the video of lugia altogether and then put my gif there instead?
Also I think we agreed that impossible is a banned tabooed word on this thread.
One day I'd like to be notorious, for what I like to call "straight talking"
Also zero suit, would you like to look over my gallery at the works of clear crystal, I'd like to have any critisim now before they are put into the game
sorry bout the double post i was using my phone when i did that yeah so basically i think i should get all of the sprites done then move on to the harder stuff since my partner got routed lol
hm you think my last comment is notorious? XDD i no mean is impossible, since no tools or something, is make impossible XD
if you think my comment is notorious, sorry about that.
a/0/9/6 is example for spa file on Pokemon SS (i don't know about HG since i just open SS ROM only), i just shock after i see most file is bin file O.O not on their format
You noting this down strife-o?
And dont worry andibad, you're notorious in a good way, though that evil laugh is rather scary,
I can proper imagine some dark hooded stranger behind me going: hehehe
Lucky for you guys I discovered that there was a page 16, otherwise I would have replied to Andibad saying impossible, which is like 3 pages long
Here are some clips of the post that was best left un-posted:
Image concept discovery:
My newest theory (which is more of a discovery) that I'm almost sure is true (because it seems a little obvious), Soul silver (and every other rom no matter what it is) has somewhere in it that has images with weird, unusual and hard to open file extentioins. What led me to think that is when I opened a file with BTX Editor...they were overworld sprites...that has to mean that everywhere else in the rom there are image files. So since there are image files, I'm sure the file for the Lugia swimming video is somewhere there, otherwise it wouldn't appear in the game, and if it's there, it must be editable.
Script concept discovery:
Another theory/discovery, Every game has something which I like to call a script, and this "script" tells the rom when to display what and where to display it, in what order, and the functions of...well...everything...
Well? was what I just said true, or was it just imagination?
Something I've tried out while attempting to hex edit the title screen:
I've previously tried opening Ice's Title screen .gif file with hex editor, and then copying all the data from it into the SS rom, replacing the a/0/4/6 file, and if there was any extra data popping out, lets say the file was 100 and Ice's thing was 500, I would replace the 100 with Ice's 500 and then delete a string of four hundred FF bytes at the end of the rom (I'm assuming that those FFs are free space in the rom or something) so the size of the whole thing wouldn't change.
.....Well, it didn't work although it seemed pretty straight forward to me =/
Anyways, Andibad, Thank you very much for undoing your impossibility error
If only I had remembered you when I was facing problems fiddling with the title screen, you truly are a genius when it comes to hacking
Also, thanks for making it very clear that a/0/4/6 is in-fact the title screen data. I found it rather weird, I even wrote about it in the post I was about to post.
Only one thing. It seems strange. far too strange. The size of the a/0/4/6 file....it's only 2 KB. Doesn't that strike you odd, that a 3d model thingy swimming around is only 2 KB? That's what made me assume that it was for the top screen only.
Also, thanks so much for providing me with the name of a tool to use for editing the title screen, it will, without any doubt at all, help a whole lot. I should give you a mdeal for saving my brain cells from exploding
By the way, is tinke a viewer or an editor? ....or perhaps, both?.....
By the way guys, I wanted to post this on the thread. I was gonna tell Ice in a PM, but he'd eventually tell you guys anyways
Okay, here goes...
...Pokemon Clear Crystal...is going to be locked for almost a year from the start of January 7th 2012, Sorry guys, but that's when my school starts again, and I doubt I'll be able to focus on either school or Clear Crystal if I do them both at the same time...but...you guys will still be here after 1 year, right...?
I think we (we practically meaning me and Ice) should continue to work hard and get as much of the job done until that time, just because it's gonna be locked for about a year doesn't mean we should stop working from now, and it also doesn't mean we're gonna quit Clear Crystal, it just means we take a year break from working on it, and then we get back. Think of it as a long Summer holiday (only that it's winter, spring AND summer) ....of course for me, it won't be a holiday at all, it'll be school X_X
....I know it's long...but hey, patience is a virtue It's been really fun, but don't think it's over just because it's locked, just 1 year and we'll get back to this
.....Lets just forget about the 7th of January and continue with what we regularly do until the time comes, okay?
EDIT: Andibad...I took a closer look at what you were talking about a few posts ago after I downloaded Tinke......Not perfectly sure how you got 0.8.3.0, I checked everywhere and the furthest I could find is 0.8.2.0.....
...but it's okay since by the look of it, they're not that different, anyways, I googled MKDS....It stands for mario kart DS....And I doubt an nds game could be a tool of some sort, could you explain what you meant by mkds...? Same goes for NSMB, new super mario brothers......?
Wow. That Kristoph guy sure is a freak...
...no offense to your avatar
Congratulations on getting your 3rd shiny star, you beat me to it oh well, I don't post on any threads in GBAtemp other than this one, so I doubt I'll be getting any starts soon
Oh, by the way Ice, what are you currently working on?
Im working on the top screen title pictures,
But havent had much time because of christmas prep and family stuff
I can upload the two i made quickly this morning if you want to see
