I suggest keeping the original hat color, makes it weird to have a different character in that one while Red was identical in Red, Green and Blue.

OK. I'll change the colour of the hat back to red.

And the name will be changed to WaterBlue. I'll ask a moderator to change the title of the topic.

Yeah, graphical updates is a bit much. However, if we're talking new tile set or rom base, it's possible but I don't think it's such a good idea.

Were you making this hack off FireRed v1.0 or v1.1?
I highly suggest you to hack the v1.1 version, since it has some annoying glitches fixed, like that one Pokédex issue.
A third version is supposed to have glitches fixed, so it only makes sense to base WaterBlue on the latest release of FireRed.

Yeah, graphical updates is a bit much. However, if we're talking new tile set or rom base, it's possible but I don't think it's such a good idea.

With graphical updates I indeed meant updates like a little bit different looking tree, or a roof that has a little update. Not too big. But that will come later.

Link works again, and I'm going to begin again with FireRed (U) 1.1. I didn't do THAT much relevant, so the 0.2 patch will come out by tomorrow or the day after that, I think.

Yes, 1.1 is the better one to work with.
I was looking for older tools but coudnt find anywhere, but you know, it seems like at this stage fire red is the best rom to hack lol.

BACK in 2005, Ruby would be the most advanced one, but now its Fire Red. Editing the title screen of fire red is so easy

Right now I'm trying to let the player obtain the other 2 starters later in the game. The problem is that the player shouldn't get a Squirtle if he already has a Squirtle. I thought that maybe I could let the script check a flag to look which Starter was chosen. But there isn't a flag or variable for which Pokémon was chosen, only the flag for the fact that a starter was chosen.
I came with the idea of creating flag 0x997, 0x998 or 0x999 (depending on which Pokémon is chosen) when the player choses his starter, but I really don't know where to place this code.

Only the name and titlescreen would be boring, and the whole game is too much. The thing that will change are the titlescreen and the name, and things that will be added are places, events, Pokémon (such as Palkia and Dialga) and trainers. Also the function to obtain the other 2 starters later in the game will be added (see my previous post).
