I'd really like to get a portable personal media player (mostly for video as you may already be able to tell)
No idea about them though.
As for space, I'd like 30 gigs. I suppose around 20 would be acceptable though
I'm gonna have to get it off eBay or alternative because I don't have the money for a new player

Zune:
I was wanting the Zune 30 gig V1, beautiful screen people are selling them cheap for the superior V2 80gig, they come in white which looks great, (although I am willing to settle for a different color) but i've been reading about bad video formats for zune, lots of converting to annoying formats
most of these were from posts about a year ago on various forums, so this could very well be fixed, which is part of what I want to know

Ipod:
Which I'd rather not go iPod, because I don't like the brand or the wheel, but hey, it's fine if it's the best choice.
I find iPods ugly, the white/black are bland, and smaller screen
But I think cheaper than the Zunes on ebay

Other Brand I don't know about:
I don't know about these

Did I bring this up yet? It has to be cheap.

Creative has some nice ones out there. If you did not want cheap there is always the archos (I think that is how it is spelled. Or just use a DS?

1. "Did I bring this up yet? It has to be cheap."
2. "As for space, I'd like 30 gigs."

I think I looked at Creative earlier and found expensive and low memory, I'll check again.

archos makes you pay for plug ins just per codec! (I think thats the archos)
I think Archos products are also more expensive and made to do much more than plan videos and music
But yeah, I don't want anything with extra costs after buying the damn thing itself (and required things such as if it needs it's own USB cable)
So, paying for software = nono

There are a few Creative media players. One shaped like an ipod and zune. Not sure for price. Chances if you want cheap you will have to go used. The "low" memory ones are the newer ones and they are flash memory instead of hard drive based.

Damn, b man, did you read it at all?
"I'm gonna have to get it off eBay or alternative because I don't have the money for a new player"
I've looked on eBay and I can probably get one of those 30 gigs decently priced from very high ranked sellers

I missed the ebay part, I noticed the cheap

Sorry Getting to be about bed time it seems

for the zune v1, its uses WMV format and a certain res
a decent converter like cuesoft will handle all video files for conversion

the v2 however can play WMV and MP4 at any res

So I could get a simple converter to get good quality videos on a zune? hope it'd be fast and batch
I may go with an ipod though the zunes are beautiful because ipod takes a much broader range of formats
i love the zune screen though..

Zune 2.0 is probably too expensive for me

Heard something about Zunes not playing some formats? I guess that's fine, I only use MP3. I also heard something about pirated mp3s not working, which wouldn't be good for me.
Korf korf.

For Videos Zune > Ipod, IMO. The bigger screen is good for videos. But, I really don't like the first gen Zune, because it's so brick-like, and looks too thick imo. The second gen Zune looks fantastic, since they've slimmed down the fat, and etc.

If you were going for music more than videos, I actually would've suggested a 5th gen Ipod video with Rockbox. Since you can find the 5th gen Ipod so cheap nowadays.

does Zune 2.0 play unprotected M4A? (or whatever the unprotected Itunes format is)
^^
MP4 i think

also, ANY SIZE?!?!?! super scalez ftw!!!!

batch is supported in the program (it all depends on your CPU, will determine how fast conversion is)

my zune has played every auido format I threw at at
Mp3, wmv, wav

as long as you dont try to put itunes copyrighted music on it,
it will convert the music formats (that the zune wont naively play, to I think WMV) in the software, so no problems on that end, not for me anyway

also this thing is great http://www.amazon.com/Zune-Home-A-V-Pack/d...0629&sr=8-1
it was on sale though in june for $25 + free shipping, it was a steal

and I got free user created games on my zune also, about 30 or so xD

better then paying itunes for ipod games imo

I don't buy, so I don't think I'd have iTunes music so I'm good there
Also still only going with Mp3's

I may have to go with iPod 30gig video, they're pretty damn cheap on eBay and if I heard right Apple is releasing a new iPod sometime this month
Price Range is gonna be around 60-70 dollars.. not a lot to work with

Not too interested in games, can't imagine they're spectacular or anything
Damn, I'm torn
On one hand, the zune is a beauty with a large screen, it isn't an iPod (This is a plus), but it's less convenient and more expensive
Then iPod is cheap, smaller screen due to that damn wheel.. haven't had much experience with the wheel although I didn't like it trying a breakout clone on my friend's ipod, they'd do better to make a circular breakout to lessen confusion

Actually though, the new iPods could actually lower prices on the zunes too...

Okay, now I look into it more, I realllly want a zune more than an iPod.
Hope I can get these .OGM files to a zune suitable format! May take 2 conversions to complete

a little disappointed how much superior the Zune 2 seems to be from Zune 1
I think the Zune 1 has a click based navigation and the Zune 2 has a touch based (As in touch on the little circle instead of tapping/clicking)

In the 2nd gen zune, you can click, and use the touch-pad. You can choose to use both, or just one of the two.

you can really do much about the actual hardware but firmware updates can change much on how the zune operates
bascially almost all of the zune 2 features the zune v1 received as a firmware update, like wifi sync and such

though granted I won the zune free in the first place

it was way better then my rio cali 256MB+1GB flash so I began to use it and like it :0

Okay, so I'll see about waiting till the new ipod comes out to buy I think.
I guess I'm fine with a generation 1 zune, you're so lucky, I wasn't around at the time to see club live madness or get a zune or anything, I would've loved the headset, zune, USB controller, and many others

Does the white scratch easy or lose color or anything?
Cause I'm really wanting a used white one but I see brown ones turned gray on ebay and it just looks tacky
