Gaming Playing retail feels 'better'?

That's actually a big part of why I stopped piracy. I just feel so good when I buy a game and it lasts longer because I've bought it (stated best by outgum). I also got bored so quickly because I had so many other free games I could play I didn't have as much fun having so many choices at one time. So I agree completely.

I hate to say this but I agree to the OP. Playing games that I buy is much fulfilling on my part

Nah, don't feel this at all lol

Feels great to see my ROM collection grow everyday, so many options, so little time

I remember when I used to feel the way the OP describes. It was a long time ago, when sometimes I bought a game and found out later it wasn't very good, but I'd still make an effort to finish it just cause I'd bought it lol. Today I pirate all my games, but later buy the ones I really enjoyed for collective purposes.

There's also the fact that you can play the game bugfree, without ending up using cheats on some games and don't have to worry about any problem with your savedata getting corrupt.

Most importantly though, the amazing feeling you get once you get home after buying a retail game, sitting down to remove the plastic cover, opening the box and taking the info sheets and game out. Best of all, holding the fresh new game cart in your hand.

This, stated perfectly

I love that line. Perfect.

On the cheats side, I always delete my cheatdatabase on my flashcart. I don't want to use any cheats on my games.

By the way, I'm not 100% anti-piracy advocate coz I also pirate. I don't have that enough money to fund my gaming needs. But I always buy those games that I really really really want.

Sure happens, if it actually is bug free. I bought Castlevania PoR and it freezes on the retail cart but not on the flashcarts (Evo, iEvo, AK2i (haven't tested the DSTwo yet)). That's a bit of a disappointment

OT: It really is nice to have a collection of games on the bookshelf. Also sometimes you do get freebies with the game (Pokéwalker ftw!).

Flashcarts are more convenient, but I know what everyone's talking about. It's really nice to have the retail game, cause you don't feel like a bum and you have the case and everything. I actually got the Miles Edgeworth game for Christmas, and I didn't even bother to open the case though. I put it on my DStwo and the original case is still in the wrapping!

I remember buying WarioWare DIY and putting it on my card before it even arrived...I really hope I don't lose any of my game cards with the 3DS, cause forever ago before I knew about flashcards I lost some games (like NSMB).

I am 99% more likely to play a game to pretty much completion if I've bought the retail copy.
I have stopped downloading xbox 360 games cos I found myself playing one game for an hour, then trying another and so on, and never actually playing them. Now I buy the games and play the crap outta them. The same is happening for all my games systems, but I do still like the convenience of flash carts so if I buy a DS game, i'll download the rom too so I can have my collection on one cart (too lazy to look up how to dump them)

you might of got a bad cart dump xD
i remember back when me and my friends got pokemon emerald, all of our carts worked except one persons. His game would crash each time he beat the E4 and it started saving.

I agree. My main problem is that when I have it on a flashcart I'm not compelled to play it a lot. But if I have the actual cart on its own I'll pop it in to play for a bit. No distractions

I agree with your point as well--although not with the DS. The first "game" I ever bought for my DS was an original R4 card--I actually bought my DS Lite after the R4. *Laughs* But with my other consoles, PS2/PS3/PSP, I buy all of my games, (Yes, even for the PSP. XD) and always plan to continue doing so. Either way, the satisfaction that comes from paying for the games/supporting the developers really does bring about a heightened motivation to complete a game so that the purchase feels justified. I always walk away satisfied with my current retail games for the most part.

Sometimes. If I play a genuinely good game, it makes no difference, but if the game has flaws, I tend to dislike the game more for it rather than overlooking them as I would if I purchased it.

I'd have to agree. whenever I buy a game, I feel more obligated to play it. of course, one good thing that comes out of pirating is the ability to experience various games and genres I would never have tried otherwise. I used to be an rpg and adventure only player, but I've really gotten interested in action-style and fighting games--which I probably never would have played if I had to buy them.

Buy the game, and you can support the developers...

AND GET A MANUAL.

But yeah, I don't pirate as much, either, even though I'm mostly into PC gaming now. There's a lot of great free games to distract myself with until I have the cash. Not that I don't pirate older games for emulation and such, though.

Yeah, the only downloaded DS game I ever finished was Chinatown Wars.
Probably because of the online features, where you could chat while playing the game...shit that was awesome. Also, it was fairly easy and I never got stuck in a mission.
